For those who are having trouble finding the modification station...

I thought I'd post a few screenshots to help you find the fragments for it. If you have a Seamoth, great Especially with Vortex torpedoes. A cyclops would be even better though. Not sure if you want to try with just a seaglide or fins... or finless. In any case, I suggest bringing oxygen tanks and a rebreather.
First, you need to know where Lifepod 17 is. Head up there, and orient yourself the way I did.
Follow the sea floor, going around any rock formations. But you know you're on the right track if you see this...
Eventually you will come to a ridge. Turn left and follow it.
Eventually you'll come to this hill. Move forward until it is directly to your left, then turn right away from it, following the sea floor.
This is what you're looking for. Dive in.
If you have Vortex torpedoes, you may need them. I guess that thing doesn't like you going near the wreck...

That's about right. 300-400m and I'm using the MKI compensator (which I got from the Grand Reef wreck).
That IS the modification station (along with the nuclear reactor). The one in my first post anyway. My second post was about the moonpool and vehicle modification station.
Almost forgot. If you're looking to build the Seamoth Defense System, you may want to collect at least 3 of those white mushrooms that can only found in the Blood Kelp Forest.
I started a new game after the prawn update and I basicly missed that wreck all the time because it is below 300m. So I splashed around in the seamth for hours to find them.
In the end I had ALL techs BUT the modification station. (Yes even the nuclear power reactor)
This is not generally a problem as the Cyclops can dive that depth easily. Also there is a hole on top of the wreck that grands you access to the wreck; so you can basicly park the Cyclops right over it and leave the sub right above the wreck-hole. That minimizes the danger geeting zapped by that huge electric-eel-thingy-moster, as the huge Cyclops upstructs its swimming path.
However; most exploration is done with the seamoth and so it slows the game flow as you can't dive below 300m to explore the wreck for the fragments that will allow you to dive beyond 300m. I think that the Modification Station fragments would be better off in a wrecks of the biomes of kelp-forests or grassy plateaus. Also the current location is really hard to find the wreck is in that tight canyon; I passed that area several times not noticing the wreck at all.
For that reason, I suggest an addtional tool to find wrecks.
A handheld metall-detector might do the trick; spotting large amounts of titanium on large distances (like 500m). The device would not need to be very accurate but just telling you the direction to go too. Addtionally the metall detector could detect debris parts at short range like 50m. Titanium is he basic resource of the game after all.
An upgrade for eighter seamoth or cyclops might work too. If anything fails, a scanner-room could help to spot the wrecks; creating signal-items for exploration after an extended period of scanning.
PS:
Lonnehart; thank so much for that post. You have no idea how desperate I was to find those fragments.
This is the area where I found it aswell, in one of the wrecks.
Mentioning those mushrooms, I may have an intersting trick for you once you harvested a few; growing them in an exterior growbed in front of your base will supply you with a large amount of those mushroom if needed. The depth is not important when growing the mushrooms. You just have to pay attention to 2 things:
1. Creating seeds from a mushroom by hitting them with a knife will hurt... so have a med kit handy.
2. Destroying a mushroom will cause arial damage, not only to you, but also to the mushrooms around it. Those mushrooms can't take no more than two of those hits and will be destroyed. So you have to harvest all but one mushroom, then hit it for the seeds. After that replant another mushroom and hit it again.... and so on. Oh an not dying n the process might help too.
