Did predators get more aggressive?

Been playing for almost a year now and lately I have been attacked by Stalkers immediately after leaving the Life Pod. Which was at the time about 50 meters north of a kelp forest. So after slashing him several times and both of us went our separate ways nearly dead, I pushed my Life Pod closer to the Gasopods. Since Gasopods seem to be avoided by the Stalkers. I am now about 70 meters away from the kelp forest. While placing some items in 'high-tech' ...piles on the ground (only a few minutes into gameplay) directly under the Life Pod, I was attacked again by a Stalker. He chased me almost 100 meters into the "safe shallows", while I swam backwards slashing with the knife, before killing me because my pitiful 3" utility knife is connected to my arms and my legs are just dangling there, a meter closer to Stalker like shark chum.
I also Have been attacked by Stalkers when I was more than 50 meters away from them. They USED to try to sneak up behind you (name = Stalker...because they stalked you.) avoiding a head on fight unless provoked. But almost every time I have been attacked I have been either in the "safe shallows" or at least 50 meters away. And, nearly every attack is head-on and full speed. More like a hungry tiger shark than the crocodilian hunting manners of the Stalkers original behavior.

Then there is the sand sharks and blood suckers. They are so aggressive now! It was hard enough having to avoid the predators. But now even when avoiding them they seek you out it seems.

Has something changed? Or am I imagining this?

It does make the game more challenging. But it makes it seem like grinding to do anything. Everywhere you go, death is waiting. It takes away from exploration and wonderment when even being in the so-called "safe shallows" is not remotely safe.

This has happened to me to! I was swimming when I was attacked by an angry mob of Stalker. They chased me back to my pod and when I went up top to see if they were gone they started JUMPING AT ME! Something has definately changed about their aggression levels.

I would like it to go back to NOT being 'starving Stalker mode'. lol.

I can't say I've noticed any increase in aggression from either stalkers or sand sharks, though I do have a pair of sand sharks that have decided they liked the shallows and wanted to live there. Biters and Bleeders both seem their usual level of 'eat everything' but they die after a single knife swipe at least.

Don't swim away, swim sideways. Dodge the attack, and slash their side. None of the smaller shark types seem to be very good at turning, and RAPIDLY lose interest once you're beside/behind them and get a couple swipes in with a knife.

I've had very good success with Stalkers and Sand Sharks, but I haven't tried it with Bone Sharks because... well, THOSE generally just get a hi-speed introduction to the front bumper of my Seamoth.

Reapers are an entirely different fight, obviously, but they initially spawn in only a few areas. There's not actually that many types to worry about, the three shark types are plentiful, but if you can dodge-slash those, there's not much else to worry about in the upper areas.

What I have noticed is that predators now tend to expand to the surrounding biomes, while before they seemed to stick to their own territory; Sandshark spawning rate also seems to be a bit excessive: at present there are about 10 Sandsharks who have made themselves at home in the Safe Shallows, not far from my base. I also agree that Bleeders have become more aggressive. As to Stalkers, they are attracted by titanium; having the survival knife in your hand while near them is like waving the proverbial red cape before a bull

They are all more aggressive. Breeders in particular are over aggressive, and IMHO need a look at their damage table.

This all sounds very promising. Finally some challenge from the inept cretins.

More damage! (Except bleeders, they should be a nuisance not a real threat.)
