<div class="IPBDescription">Smack pat and hab fan</div>After ripping out about 2/3 of the map and starting over, heres the new style, hope you like it. A HUGE thanks goes to Yamakazi and <s>Chalapaaumonk</s> <s>Chalapuamonk</s> <s>chlapaumonk</s> Chalapamonk arrgh.

I got 32% clipnodes left for 3 hives, so this should be intresting...

Also thanks to the SWORDFISH movie soundtrack for making me work faster <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
The images have been gamma corrected in PSP because due to me being a muppet i forgot to lower my normally high monitor contrast ingame so things appear a lot brighter than they were. And yes it does have env_gamma :x

hmmmm, those shot seem a little too washed out to do the map justice. It looks too grey, half-life-ish kinda, probably because of this reason. i like the new style though.

A few "clean" images, slightly higher res and no gamma correction

The new theme looks excellent! I can't say I see all that much of a difference though... Which I guess is good.

I really like some of the detail like the lifted gratings, etc. And man, do you work fast.

    OK, Criticism:

-I agree with BlackWolf. A bit washed out looking. The last shots do a better job there though, so I guess that's covered.

-That, and there really is nothing all that dramatic or bold about the lighting. Harldly any bright against dark style contrast. Don't know what to say there. Just make sure you've got some spiffy dark shadows here and there sometimes. (again, the last shots do a better job here...)

    - Again, wire use looks a bit excessive. I guess that could be a good thing, but... I don't know. Your map, you know what's best there.

Looking forward to seeing how this shapes up.

I don't really see anything else that hasn't been mentioned.

I agree with Ken and Black Wolf about the light seeming a little washed out esp. in the first set of smaller pics (could be down to your adventures in PSP <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->).

These shots all look good.  The only thing is that there is just a general lack of extreme lighting contrast.  The architecture is overall very intresting.  There aren't too many flat surfaces, and it just feels good.  I'm a bit concerned that there's only one particle system in any of these pictures that I can see.  I just hope that you have some more in there, because they can do wonders for ambience in a map.

    HOW R THE R_SPEEDS!@!@!@!@??!?!

    Ahem...

Looking good, that floor tex looks like it would be a bugger to tile and still look decent and you seem to have achived it, good work. Oh and the usual "needs more contrast!!" comment. Maby a few light_spots around in the centre of the rooms with dark corners.

i know u r an old skool half-life mapper, so that explains why a few of the shot are reminding me of HLSP. u need a lot more contrast and perhaps a bit of texture replacement, some bits look too much like concrete . . .

    holy crap that looks awesome.

i disagree about the wire usage - i think it's perfect...although i think those gigantic pillar things are a bit overdone...they look cool - but seem to be everywhere

I think thats great and the wire usga eis good.  However, maybe you should make some higher res wire textures?  They sorta look weird scaled up that high.

Great texture work, main problem is the lighting, better work on that, but others already mentioned this, looks like a very nice map, lets hope it plays like a dream <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

I hope I'll see this map in the first release.

Which keeps me wondering how many maps will make it...

I guess your map, Ken, is a very good example how you can make contrasting lighting. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> Not saying that everyone should try to the same as Ken, though.

So we've established the lighting needs contrast (the env_gamma was NOT on during these screens as i said)
i'll get a few more screens soon

    Thanks for the comments

    Looking good, N@rbs.

I agree with many of the comments here.  I think you could use a bit more uniqueness for certain areas.  Landmarks like distinctive colors, generators, a water area, different types of pillars, etc.  One heuristic I rather like is trying to describe the map to someone else.  If you end up having difficulty describing it "the computer room, the green computer room, the other green computer room", then maybe the landmarks could be improved.  If you find yourself saying things like "the refinery", "the bottomless pit", "the spacesuits", "the water hive", etc. then you know you have good landmarks, and your areas are very distinct.  This is the main thing I think you could improve on.

These shots are very beautiful!!! i've just added in my inspiration collection <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

I think Flayra's words are perfect...just 1 thing: i think u got to fill a little the room with some boxes and similar things

Oh,i thought the pillars where some kind of generators! :o

I couldn't of said it better myself flayra. Other than that, the geometry, lighting, texturing, all excellent. Keep up the amazing mapping
