to me climbing out of a sub at 500m deep is really unrealistic. there should be set backs such as take damage or lose o2 faster. if the pressure can crush a titanium sub why not me.

Because you are filled with watery organs and the sub is hollow. Blame the rest on Alterra's survival suits.

Do you not lose O2 faster the deeper you are? I haven't played in about a month and I've only ever played survival mode, but I'm pretty sure I remember my O2 usage rate increase the deeper I was.

You do lose O2 faster. Don't remember the exact rate, but it drains really quickly at deep levels unless you have the rebreather.

Supposedly the depth meter at the top turns yellow (100-200m) = consume O2 @ 1.5x; turns red (200+m) = consume O2 @ 2x

...wait, wiki says 2x at yellow, 5x at red... not sure which is the case.
