I read the title and thought it was going to be about a Discworld-style luggage robot that follows you around with storage slots.

I can confirm that I now want this.

Now that I think about it this whole map is like Discworld, except the turtle could actually be swimming. And the elephants are long drowned.

So, that's a gain of 5 units of space, correct? If the luggage occupies 2x2

0 gain as the luggage unit occupies 3x3 (same as the Seaglide)

according to wiki The Luggage Bag can be picked up from debris piles in the Crash Zone, Safe Shallows, and in some of Aurora's living quarters. can be placed anywhere the player wants and is planned to provide 9 units of storage, taking up up 4 units (2x2)

does not say anything whether it can be opened from the inventory or if you have to place it somewhere on the ground/floor like the floating storage

Why should Luggage work like a Bag of Holding? It is not like the Aurora is from some fantasy realm that uses magic or some hyper advanced civilization that has spatial compression technology like the TARDIS. The civilization that created the Aurora looks like they came from a civilization 200 to 500 years in the future not 10,000 years in the future.

what the ... is a bag of holding?

in most of the games i have played all the backpacks and bags did was add extra "pocket space" wail the weight of the stuff inside still adds to the weight your carrying

i think their was/is some kink of weight system planned as their are 3 kinds of air tanks of different capacity's but taking up the same amount of space and the plasteel tank saying its extra light

i haven't used the plasteel tanks much as they seem to hold the same amount as regular tanks

also in many of the games i played their was a weight cap, that is if the player was carrying too much he/she would have their movement halved/be unable to move

Plasteel tanks only apply their lightweight effect if they're equipped in the O2 slot of your character.
They do nothing when placed in your inventory.

If you're going to need more O2, craft high capacity tanks for your inventory, and equip the plasteel tank as your main

.. are you sure? That's counter-intuitive, as more O2 tanks in inventory slow you down more, so you would think that lighter tanks would reduce that. Hmm. Maybe they'll address it in a later update?

A Bag of Holding is an item from Dungeons and Dragons that stores items in a pocket dimension. So Subnautica's luggage storing 9 units of space while it only takes up 4 units of space in the inventory would work like a Bag of Holding.

i never played dungeons and dragons, in most of the games i have played the backpacks and bags added inventory space but its contents stayed on the player adding to the carrying weight that is i had more room to carry around more stuff but i still had to deal with the weight of the stuff

the bag of holding sounds more unlimited

I always thought that in futuristic games like this you turned items into data and stored them in a drive. The larger the item, the more data it would take up, and the quicker it would fill your drive's data up to full.

That's just a headcanon, though, and I'm not trying to convince people this is what happens, I'm just saying what I like to believe happens :)
