Not sure if the devs have any intentions of adding wrecks or parts of the exploded sunbeam into the game
Ive checked the Trello and seen nothing related to this so it looks grim but maybe in the future who knows
It would indeed be pretty cool to see or be able to explore a part of the Sunbeam after it blows up
Of course, the captain says himself that the sunbeam is a small 6-seater cargo ship so .... not sure there would be much to see or explore
It's a tiny, cute little ship that took a direct hit from a superweapon that brought down the immensely massive Aurora. It got vaporized pretty much instantly and isn't really large enough to spawn wrecks anyway.
I could see some additional Scrap Metal pieces being seeded through the world or a tiny 'wreck' like the large sheet of metal ones you see in the Shallows and by the Crash Zone, but a large explorable one I don't think so. Unless we're misjudging the size of the Sunbeam, but I don't think that it's large enough to produce any interesting wreckage.
I think there is a problem with scale and draw distance. The radio message says "entering atmosphere" when it looks like the ship is almost on top of the gun. A ship that small would be invisible at the upper edge of the atmosphere, making that cinematic rather less interesting.
I would be willing to forgive the timing of the radio message and assume the gun's targeting system needs a longer track to target such a tiny ship, hence it has to be much closer.
If nothing else, I'd like to be able to acquire a miniature model of the Sunbeam one day, which would logically come from the wreckage. Also hoping for the same in regards to the Degasi, so I can make a memorial room in one of my bases.

Precursors used TurboLasers. They have a hard time locking on to small craft. Just ask the Imperials, they're still salty about losing their Death Star because of that..
the Aurora and the Degasi both get shot down in orbit but somehow the Sunbeam makes it almost all the way to the surface?
Wasn't the Degasi and Aurora doing gravitational slingshots around the planet while the Sunbeam was the only one with the intent to land? It takes time from when the weapon first detects a ship or decides to attack a ship to when it fires its weapon.
The wiki states that the Degasi was manned by a crew of six. So it should be about the same size as the Sunbeam. Both of them are much smaller than the Aurora. My guess is that the Degasi and Sunbeam are about 3 times the length and width of the Cyclops.
It would be cool if after seeing the sunbeam go boom you could craft a model sunbeam in the fabricator, and when you place it on a shelf a mini cutscene plays of the character showing respect for the people who tried to rescue him, and maybe a degasi model could be found in one of their bases but I don't know since we don't know what the Degasi looks like

I think if they add mini Degasi, they use old Aurora concepts(They make 8 diferent variants of Aurora!)

This sounds more logical than
"The Sunbeam is 3 times the size of the Seamoth"
Are they really...
