Survival Tips

Hey guys, my question today is this: do any of you have any survival tips or strategies that you want to share? I'm really having trouble getting enough food and water, so if anyone has a easy, cheap method of farming them that would be great.

I don't have any good internet connections. It takes 6 minutes to load a 1 minute video. That's why I came here!

Getting disinfected water (from a coral tube and salt) instead of filtered water (from bladderfish) produces more water. Check how much food fish provide. If you have Alien Containment, put 2 of the same kind of (high-calorie) fish in there and let them multiply. Use indoor growbeds (blueprints are on the floating island) and plant lantern tree and marblemelon and chinese potato for eating. Just be sure not to eat the last piece (re-plant it). Get the heated knife from the item modification station, and you can instantly cook fish on the go.

All of the above except Alien Containment can be built in the Cyclops.

Take time to specifically gather food and water instead of doing it as needed. Fill a wall locker with live fish and another with salt, with a few extra that you will use while gathering. This way when you are ready to focus on exploring or building you will have a supply to fall back on so you can do the given task without worrying about your food or water supply. When you run low do it again.

I forgot to mention, grow Bulbo trees for water, in case you're in areas where there's no salt & coral or bladderfish

I like to just set aside one night to getting a ton of food, store my fish in aquariums and I make heavy use of the water filtration systems, before I get those I will spend a whole night collecting bladder fish and just turn them all into water

That's usually enough to last me through multiple playsessions

Whenever I catch a new kind of fish, I put two living ones (not the green kind) in a special locker in case I want to farm them later. Then any fish of that type that I catch (non-green) I cook/cure.

My favorite fish to catch is the Reginald; you'll find them in Sparse Reef and Grassy Plateaus. They have the most overpowered food value of any fish; you'll never clean them out fast enough if you farm them, especially in a two-story fish tank.
