Terrain deformation ?

Hi,
It's been a long time since I havn't played and I remember that terraformer was removed and the terrain deformation was supposed to be removed to get better performance in game.
There is a lot of posts in the forum, I admit that I havn't searched a lot...
Thank you

It's been removed, and base terrain deformation has been removed, but you can still manually spawn in a terraformer with Debug Console command

On the topic, when will base terrain deformation be cut out? Is UW still have problems with base stilts?

Hey. The Crashfish Can Deform Terrain And You Can Launch Anything At Terrain To Deform It.

As far as I've noticed with the Castles & Coffee update, bases no longer will remove terrain when being built.
If it don't fit, it can't be built in that particular spot.

Also the stilts form OK when first building, but they do tend to all of a sudden not reach the seafloor, after playing the game for awhile.

The tool has already been officially "cut out", but the ability to remove terrain is still technically in place. This means the performance improvements expected by this plan will not yet be seen. However, this should come soon given the XBox performance is severely hampered (moreso than on PC) by this problem -- and UWE devs have hinted at an XBox release containing these fixes "soon" -- what that means is up to you to decide.

I wish they'd at least leave it in as an option. Some people, myself included still have pretty good performance where terraforming is concerned.

It is not as simple as you may think. The way terraforming worked was by saving the terrain EVERY time you use the terraformer or the base does it automatically. I have been lucky, but there have been reports of gigabyte sized save files. Will I miss the terraformer, yes but the costs it presents are are far too high.

Unfortunately, the saves contained ALL terrain (or something around that) that was ever loaded into the game (by player movement), whether it had been "terraformed" or not.

That explains the gigabyte size of the save game folder.

Ever wonder if the terrain was duplicating like the wrecks when it attempted to load?

Found this strange, cube-like formation below the terrain, anyone know what it is? Has it got something to do with the Sandsharks in the area? :P
I also found that shooting the Repulsion (not Propulsion) cannon at terrain will take chunks out of it, even if no object is being fired.

I don't know much about that cube in particular but if you pilot your seamoth near the terrain and ping the sonar frequently you'll find a lot of hidden objects like that. Not sure if it still does but western grassy plateaus used to have hidden terrain under almost every hill in some spots. Think I also found another in the Lost River just the other day as well.
