Back To 1.0?

<div class="IPBDescription">Has anyone tried?</div> I'm just curious. Has anyone tried putting up a server running v1.0? If so, how did it go? Now that more people know how to play aliens and all that. Would be interesting to see if the PT's and Dev's really were right when they thought v1.0 was balanced.

    That'd actually be pretty fun to tryout, although fades would be pretty strong with the carapace bug in 1.0 <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

    biggest problem with 1.0 was the slowdown werent they?

    servers slowing down massivly after a while?

    PLUS that in 1.0 marines all sucked badly and only won due to being stronger by equipment... so it'd be massive marine wins. And only the veterans from that time will be good enough to fight back, the ones that came after 1.01 and later didn't have to try hard as hell, and could win much easylier(sp?)...

    Once on my server I attempted to use the latest DLL (so the bugs would be fixed) with the 1.0 skill.cfg, but alas, it does not work. Those settings are hard-coded now.

    It can still be done, however, and I suppose I could set the server up with 1.0 for a day if there is enough demand for it.

    Keep in mind that there never was a "marine resource bug". This was a misnomer, much like the so-called "skinhack". Marine resources scaled with the number of players (as they still do), but the problem was that there was no team-balancing. A team with twice as many players would have twice as many resources, simple as that.

    It might be novel to go back to v1.0, but v1.03+ is pretty objectively better in every way...

    I would, but 1.0 doesn't have the slowdown fixes that 2 & 3 have
