Can anyone explain what happened to me

So i was knocking a hardcore run out of the park, just leaving the alien thermal plant, and i was almost back to my cyclops when i started taking heat damage. it looked to be about 16% then i jumped inside my cyclops and recieved the "you are dead game over" sceen for no reason i could see.
If anyone has a good theory let me know, i put a lot of time into that run.
Check out the clip here: https://clips.twitch.tv/PatientRenownedArtichokeNotATK
Or the extended video here: https://twitch.tv/videos/134744130

FYI: Im playing XB1 Game Prewiew

Bonus: if you watch the full clip i spent a few moments walking around in an upside down cyclops

That is definitely odd. It was difficult to actually see what happened with the lag, but you probably just ran into a river of lava that hadn't really loaded in yet.

Yeah that was my best guess too, i was too eager to reach the safety of my cyclops. And even that is supposed to be removed soon.

Yep, this is exactly what we were discussing a couple of weeks ago when talking about game difficulty.

This kind of thing is the reason that the game is completely unable to be played on an Ironman hardcore mode. It's fine to die because of mistakes but not because of game breaking bugs, poor game design or bad performance issues.

Some of us would love to play You Only Live Once runs, but it's just not feasible.

Out of curiosity, how many hours had you put in?

I think i was only about 9 hours or so.

I'm not really too salty about it though, i knew going into this hardcore run that it was a 50/50 chance to die from normal means (stupidity/carelessness) or to die from a bug (stuck in a wreck or precursor structure.)

The devs have an awesome game on their hands and i'm sure they will have it up to par by release time.

I can't wait for polish month. And im not looking forward to the 3 months of solid performance work. I kinda am looking forward to it, but we won't have any new content!

If you look closely you can see that a Sea Dragon swatted the Cyclops into you.

Morph_guy you could be totally right, all of the sudden boom and im inside and super dead. if you watch the extended clip he had been trying to mate with my cyclops for 5-10 minutes, i must have showed up for the finale.

I just dont have the heart the start hardcore over again yet, but I'm debating seeing if i can get all the way done here again without ever building any vehicles Or bases on freedom mode

    Man, good eye @Morph_Guy!

I would have never noticed that had you not pointed it out.

I thought the game lagged so much that he somehow built up a ton of movement speed, and smashed his head into the Cyclops.

I've suddenly become much more afraid of the Cyclops.

Playing the other day, I was starting to give serious thought to starting a new game on hard-core. Then, I encountered the "slow loading" terrain bug. One second, I was swimming through open ocean. The next second, I was somehow in the middle of a wreck!! After that, I decided hard core probably isn't ready for prime time until bugs like that are fixed.

I was literally thinking that same thing as I wrote that. :D

Until v1.0, on a Hardcore run, I'd strongly suggest writing down (or printing?) some of the useful commands here: http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Debug_Console_Commands

On Xbox, you can access the debug console by hitting LB + RB + A (sometimes you have to do it twice for it to take)

So, say you get stuck in a wreck. Open debug console, put in
    oxygen

    , then put in
    spawn

to get unstuck, then put in
    oxygen

again to shut off the oxygen cheat.
