[Suggestion] Fabricator to use all storage within base

Hello!

I am at a stage now where I am having to move all of my resources between various storage areas and then to and from the fabricator. It would be a useful feature, and save this mundane item moving task, if the fabricator was able to take resources from any storage units attached within the base. That way, I can create large sorting areas to check and keep stock but then be able to make stuff without having to collect it all back manually.

Cheers!

Similar suggestions have already been made. Mostly together with the suggestion to get more "specialised" rooms, like a storage room with fixed "storage-slots" that you can build storage units in. Like with the "vehicle modification station" in the moonpool which has certain fixed build positions. Would really like to see something alike after release if possible.

Thanks. I did do a quick search but didn't find anything. Probably just different terms used. I like the specialised room concept. Nice idea. B)

Main problem here is how NOT to use materials you don't want to. Not very convenient to build special outside storage. It's redundant to make special storage rooms when you have lockers, as well as to make special "fabricator-ready" and "unready" lockers. The only way I imagine this working - either a fabricator using resources inside this very room's lockers only, or checkbox "can be used by fabricator" in the storage container itself.

are mine alone. Once you have a device that needs to address an arbitrary number of things, it can go bad. What it someone makes a huge base with 2000 lockers, all full of stuff? Each craft action could start lagging the game down, if the search isn't fast, as it needs to search each slot of each locker.

Using a single array (computer data storage term) removes that issue. Or simply limiting the places that it needs to look.

i would rather the fabricator use all storage within the room its rather then the entire base, or possibly within a certain distance from the fabricator if i couldn't designate which storage to use from.
i like the idea of have some rooms like my galley and workshop seperate

If you make storage universal why then even have storage at all? Without inventory management, there is no purpose to inventory.

Interesting idea but just simply linking all the inventory seems a little bit like a cheat perhaps they could add some type of Minecraftesque mechanism where you have to build item conduits to connect different inventories
