Save games on the Xbox are compressed due to space limitations. The decompressor works in blocks of 1024 bytes. If the file was a multiple of 1024 bytes, the decompressor would loop one extra time and during that loop it would report that 0 bytes were decompressed. Our code incorrectly identified this result as an error, but it really was just an indicator that we'd reached the end. When this happened, we would return null for the decompressed data which is why you see the "a null value was found where an object instance was required".

If this is fixed then i want to dust off my xbox1 and load up right away. I did delete a few of the saved games but i think i have a well progressed game somewhere. If not the fluff it i will start again. And enjoy the places i already know and some places i dont. Well done guys i am smiling again

Don't everybody rush to DL the game just yet...

They found the problem, but haven't pushed the FIX to the active game as of yet.

It has to go through the Microsoft Approval Process first.

That may take a few more days.

Ok... but... what about the PC version? This same error happens there... I don't know why everyone keeps referring to it as the XBOX bug.

Can you post a screenshot, as well as your output_log.txt from your Subnautica\Subnautica_Data folder?

Obraxis posted a day ago that the FIX should hit either Wednesday 4/12 or Thursday 4/13 this week.

Update: It's out now (early). It's still being distributed globally, try launching the game & restarting your Xbox. Look for 46232 in the top right of screen when playing to be sure you have the save/load patch.
