Some Map Concepts

<div class="IPBDescription">stuff done while bored on break</div> i got a hold of some shaderlab textures and also made a few of my own for this new map. some of the texturing/lighting/etc isn't finished, but most of the important stuff is done. it'll probably be pretty small and not too ambitious. i'll probably release it publicly whenever the layout's done (unless i decide to transform this thing into tanith 1.1).

    That round doorway in 3rd picture is fantastic looking, excellent job. Rest looks pretty decent too, if a bit like the rest of the official release ns maps. Im just getting a bit tired of that space station motif is all.

    this looks really nice ! nice variation of textures and solid brushwork as always , i really like the 2nd shot with the blue/purple lighting , gives it a cold sterile look compared to the redish basement .     Looks good, though some of those consoles look out of place, its quite a nice feel then just random console thing looking stupid.

    Lighting is nice, some good stuff.

    Looking good Tommy. I of course would prefer that you use NS textures instead of Shaderlab textures though (ns_bast was an exception, from now on all the official maps should use NS or custom textures).

    I love 'basement path' and 'concept hallway'. The lighting in ?concept hallway? is great, although it seems a little odd to have the fans obstructed like that.

    well, this map is probably not going to be official - so i think shaderlab/custom textures would be alright. a lot of this stuff is just conceptual. i'd definitely stick to NS textures for tanith 1.1. i'll probably wait for squeal to finish up another set before i tackle that. i'd make my own textures, but they would be inferior to squeal's high quality ones. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Flayra - Don't you think that there needs to be new textures? I can see how you would like the textures to only be NS specific and I can also see how usually new textures do not fit with the ns theme but tommyD has sucessfully merged a shader lab textures with good results. Shouldn't that kind of work be allowed to prosper?

    Nice work tommy(I feel like Don Salieri from Mafia when I say that, lol), that map looks sweet. Personally, I like those textures better than anything else I've seen so far in NS.

    From what I've seen in these screenshots this map looks to vary a fair bit.

    Vastly different construction methods and style all over the place.

    I'm not saying that's bad by any means, it just looks a tad... weird.
