Smoker vents that aren't hot in Lost River [October stable build]

I went to build a new base in one of my favorite locations - the entry to the room with the Ghost Tree, on the side where you find the dead dragon skeleton near the research lab. My plan was to build some thermal plants to power it near the hot vents around the skeleton - but to my surprise, they weren't even hot enough to provide thermal power. I'm not 100% sure this is a bug, but it was sorely disappointing to see the hot bubbling vent and not even get above 25 C.

Also, not being able to make a thermometer to verify good locations proved to be a real PITA. Please reconsider its removal.

I agree with the rethinking the thermometer removal. Because you only build items when swimming rather then in a vehicle, that is annoying. The thermal plant does tell the current temperature now, but no one wants to have to build, despawn, and rebuild over and over, especially when you may take damage from the eruptions. Often I may want to build a thermal plant before I've even built a prawn (which I only do after getting the drill arm - no point before that).

It seems now the thermal plants do something different on being queued up for building-- as always, the red outline means you can't place there, and green outline means you can, but the yellow outline means that you can but shouldn't, as the temperature is suboptimal.

I still want my thermometer back though, dangit.

There's still a range limit of good to great. So the yellow indicator still doesn't help. They really need to just put the Thermometer on the characters HUD, and be done with it. I've gotten the yellow indicator even in the ILZ.

I've seen that cold vent, yes. After building the plant, swimming some distance away and moving back to it fixed it for me, so it may be a loading issue with that one.

Doesn't the Seamoth have a thermometer on it?

Yep. And around that smoker, the thermometer doesn't go up at all. I know the area that's being discussed; I was scouting it out for a base my own self.

There's a couple areas where the 'heat spots' seem to be not on the smokers, I've noticed, in the Lost River.

I think this is a call for @Belgarel who figured out a temp fix for some heat issues even before he was hired by unknownworlds(A belated congrats to Belgarel for becoming part of the bug fixing team)

I could take a look. What are the coordinates of the worst offenders?

Snagging the coordinates I linked earlier in the general forum: -741.4, -536.7, -1093.6. There's some heat there, but it's decidedly positioned weird. The same issue exists on the chain of vents just outside the DGR caves to the south-southwest of there.

99 pieces of bugs in the code
    99 pieces of bugs
    Take one down
    Fix it up now
179 pieces of bugs in the code

If I had a buck for every time either of those has happened to me...I'd be retired.

I think that the delay on the Ghost Update patch tweet said everything:

(Edited because I misremembered which update that tweet was from)
