Connection Issues on an Android Tethered Wifi Cell Phone Connection? [solution]

I was receiving constant yellow/red plug issues while using my 4G android based cell phone.
One solution that worked temporarily was to switch on/off my VPN on my laptop or on my phone. After much heartache, I found that tethering via bluetooth resolved this issue, but increased my ping. Nonetheless, this is by far favorable considering how bad the random lag spikes occurred along with strange black screen upon game loading. I suspect a proper direct tether via USB would also solve my issues, and perhaps clear the new higher ping issue. Nonetheless, it appears that NS2 gaming over the android wifi tether is not possible.
