Eye Candy update not working?

I'm a bit confused about the Eye Candy update. When it first went live I was amazed at how great it looked. But after few days the update seemed to have reverted back. Options are still there, as I left them, but the water blurriness vanished and it only barely registers at the edges of the screen.
Is my game bugged somehow because otherwise it seems like they rolled back the Eye Candy update. And yes, I'm on experimental, though I checked stable as well. I also verified integrity of game files. Those options are there for a reason, though they seem to do almost nothing to my game. Certain options I can barely even register as I switch them ON/OFF.
Technically when using the screenshot of the comparison before and after update on the official update forum, my game did look like the right side for a few days but now looks like the left side as if no update is present within my game.

Any ideas how to fix it so I get that sweet blurriness back?

Maybe the devs are playing with Depht of Field? Can you post screenshots with it on / off?

this is how my game USED to look when Eye Candy update first got released

but now even if using depth of field it only turns blurriness on/off in the distance, but near the player it's as sharp as ever.

this is how my game NOW looks (left picture) and how it SHOULD look (right picture)

if they removed the blurriness from up close, i really wish they bring it back as an option because i loved it when i had it. problem is i don't know if i'm having an issue with it showing properly or if they made a conscious decision to tone down the much liked update (speaking for myself).

which version does it show for you?

I think the pic on the left is how they intended it. It showed up like the one on the right, until they tuned it how they wanted.

I do agree a slider would be nice, but most won't like everything always looking like it's out of focus (also unrealistic, even in water, with goggles on, you should be able to see a few dozen feet clearly, IIRC).

Best you can hope for is a slider, I think.
