It hides under the surface in the sand. Waiting for a prey to move by. It shoots up and pumps tonnes of water through a jet, sucking all nearby fish into it's maw...

Sounds similar to a bobbit worm, although with suction instead of just grabbing.

Well, they had the sandworm - which just shot out of the sand whenever something swam above it, but they removed the in-dev model and code. Maybe they'll do something with it once they start working on the expansion of the game.
