Idea for an expansion

So, the bacteria spread through all the core worlds and killed the whole civilization. All those worlds are quarantined. That civilization has ftl travel via portals.
Therefore, why aren't there portals from the world subnautica is on, to those core worlds. A infinite sea, if you forgive the pun, of worlds to explore. Dead unknown worlds with who knows what monsters lurking.

    I imagine ocean worlds would be only a very small subset of what you might find in a civilization that big. We'd need a serious tech upgrade if we find ourselves say, in an abandoned space station floating in a gas giant. Its LIKE an ocean, but I wouldn't try drinking the waterx10000

    It's a nice idea, but it would require too much re-working of the current game's resources and engine. Perhaps, with a possible Subnautica 2, this could be explored - but with the addition of a large number of new worlds, the immersion would be downplayed the playable area per world would be extremely limited.
