Hello All

I am experiencing a crash in the mushroom forest, when heading from the escape pod towards the aurora's nose. the first lobe of the forest is fine, but when I approach the next area in the game crashes.

happens regardless of if I'm swimming or in a vehicle.

    How weak/strong is your computer?

There are a lot of models in that biome, and my old pc lagged like hell there.

i7-6700 Skylake, 16GB DD4, 1070GPU, so it's unlikely my PC; I _think_ it was fine before the last update (I certainly didn't have any issues last time)

If I stay too long in the Mushroom forest exploring, my game won't crash but regardless of how I reduce settings, the FPS slowly goes down and if I try to leave the area, terrain don't load.

Seems that the Mushroom forest is too RAM intensive

The only issue that I have had in the past was with the game crashing to desktop. I had created a workaround fix for that but have not used it since Update 84 to see if the devs fixed that particular issue, and so far my game has not crashed.

I have never experienced issues in the Mushroom Forests. As a test I decided to explore the Northwest Mushroom Forest and the Northeast Mushroom Forest on my Seaglide and take notes of what I felt.

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=vHX9AFUmp7k
    * Video is just of the Northeast Mushroom Forest since my experience was the same in both forests.
    • No screen jerking on my Seaglide.
    • Occasionally a forest of tree mushrooms would initially render in as just the stalks, and as I got closer the pads would appear.
    • In both forests CPU fluctuated between 24-30%, GPU 42-73%, Memory was a steady 3.2 GB.
    • Of note I found that the memory ran about 400-500 MB lower when travelling between the two forests.
    • I did try using my Prawn in the forest for a bit but my driving in the forests was extremely bad so I didn't include.

Game settings all set to highest where only changes made were to enable V-SYNC, disable Depth of Field and changed FXAA to TAA. I tried color grade as Off in one forest and Filmic in the other.

System specs are; i7-6850K, 64 GB RAM, GeForce 1070.

*Edit: Thought I would mention that when I have the Windows 10 Netflix app open and a TV series switches from the end of an episode to the beginning of the next episode that it will cause Subnautica to hitch for about 1 or 2 seconds, otherwise I can watch Netflix and play simultaneously. I've also experienced this although to a lesser degree while watching videos on YouTube and Twitch and playing Subnautica at the same time. Thought may be worth a try to close any apps that use your video card if you have them open.
