sorry for brining this back, its just i like this gun and i would like to use it.
you have to download the avp marine model with the smart gun animations... I released on these forums a little while ago...
here's the URL for the zip with the heavy and marine.. <a href='http://students.washington.edu/jnilsen/reskins.zip' target='_blank'>http://students.washington.edu/jnilsen/reskins.zip</a>
if you want to use the default marine, I believe some slapped the smartgun anims on it too. I don't remember the title of the post though.

Can you post the nice gray skins that appear in the top picture? I like those. Just zip up the bmps and attach them, so its easier. I can attach them in HLMV myself.
I didn't make a version with the default hands... I'm sure you're clever enough to figure out how to import the default hand bitmaps onto the model via HLMV though. It might take some texture resizing, but otherwise it's a piece of cake.
ummm not particularly no <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
oh well <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
this is something everyone in any half-life mod model forum should know how to do. first::: Download Half-life model viewer from cumbalum soft's website. second::: Open up HLMV, then open up the model you wish to apply a skin to. third::: click the texture tab, and then click the drop down menu to find the texture you wish to change. Also check the size of the texture that will appear at the very bottom of the window where (widthxheight) appears. fourth::: Make sure that the texture you're going to import is exactly (EXACTLY!!!) the same size at the one on the model, Otherwise you won't be able to import it. (if it isn't the same size you'll have to resize it in a graphics program like photoshop or paintshop pro) fifth::: Once you've ascertained that the texture you wish to import is the correct size all you have to do is click the import button, find the texture and open it. The new texture will now be in place of the old one. sixth::: Now all you have to do is "save model as" and save the model to your NS folder (you should back up the old one if you think you might wish to use it again.
If for some reason you don't have the texture you want to import, in this case the default ns hands, then you must export the texture from an existing model with that texture. All you have to do is open up the model in HLMV, go to the textures tab, find the hand textures, and click the export button. Choose a name to save it as and pick a location to save it to that you'll remember.
HOPE THIS HELPS PEOPLE!! Because I'm friggin' tired of doing this easy crap for people who can't do anything.
Also, if you don't mind a couple of extra steps when you resize images if you need to:
It's better to resize in more than 256 colours, so that the program's antialiasing can do its best to preserve as much data as possible if you're reducing the size, or make a better approximation of what needs to be added if you're making it bigger. Then just convert it back to 256 colours before you import it into the model.
(If you forget to convert to 256 colours it will assume you want your texture to be in greyscale, so it's easy enough to spot if you've made that mistake)
edit: I also have to add how much I like that these forums are doing a crash course in HLMV skin replacement. It's a very handy thing for everyone to know, so they can tweak their models to their hearts content, and maybe even come up with some stunning skins of their own to show everyone.

Very nice, Bots. I'm deffinitely going to use that. I'll come back when I'm awake, though.

I never really appreciated the work Bots did into making them until I looked closely at each one.
Damn, they are good.

^ Right-click save as, in case you don't know the drill.
