A result of months of hard slacking
The time has come to release my texture wad. It is currently being used for my map ns_thea, hence a few of the textures are specialised (2 of them at last count), but that still leaves 78 others for you to play with. I hope these can be as successful as wall_lab. Download, and post any comments/bugs here.

The readme:

---------

A Natural Selection texture collection.

---------

Description:

80 textures for use in Natural Selection maps. Approximately half are based of the textures of Cory "Squeal Like A Pig" Strader and Kevin "Relic25" Roberts from the Natural Selection ns.wad, the other half are either public domain or created by myself. Apart from v_dan_rock, which was created by my 8 year old brother Daniel, bless him.

This wad varies in quality. I am still learning, but I hope you find use for at least a few. If you do happen to use any textures in a released map, please credit me in the map readme (or easter egg) as appropriate. (You do not have to keep all of the textures inside the wad, as long as there is credit given. Its a big enough wad, and some poor souls still have 56K.) Sending an email to fam@box7.co.uk with a link to the map would be grand too.

These textures must only be used for Natural Selection purposes.

Thanks and Best Wishes to the following:

Bozman: For being a map test lackey.
Flayra and Cory: For being the best (and possibly the strangest) role models a person could have.
Grendel: For the f****** can of Sprite.
Jeff Paris: For enlightening me on French art communes.
ken20banks: For telling me the reality that there was only one good texture in the entire wad. :)
KungFuSquirrel: For making me get off my lazy behind and learn how to do this texturing/mapping lark.
Mart & Zoe: For everything. :)
MonsE: For being a nipplemonster, ahah!
snowfox: For making me map like my life depended upon it.
Zazi: For asking for assorted textures at 4AM in the morning.

Enjoy

Mark James

I was worried about that. For some reason my website has a habit of randomly killing any zip file. Does this work for others? Or is anyone willing to offer me a host?

Seems to be some small corruption on some of the textures. Good bunch genrally. Overlay textures might be usefull.

Oh my, a mention in the readme. I'll put it up on the wall.
I quite like v_dan_rock, you'll make a fine lad out of young Daniel.

I like a fair few of these textures, i think i might attempt using some of the rock textures in ns_intrepid as rocks on asteroids tend to be black / dark.

You know my opinion of this wad as I told you in IRC. However, I'll say it again.

    Fantastic.

I may use a few, cheers for the textures fam (i reallt love the nos_wall3 and nos_wall3b), just wondering if on the teckwall_logo if you could remove the logo and kepp that colour on it, as it looks nice and then add that in the wad.

[EDIT] Thanks to do loveley texture release by Fam I got a darker looking map. Yay! I won't overuse the textures, as they will look better on ns_thea [EDIT]

I realised only after I had uploaded that I had forgotten to take teckwall_logo, the unfinished signs and that giant orangey blob thing out. As for adding a plain version of the logo one, ill see what I can do soon.

Argh! No! Non-power of 2 textures!

It would've been far better to shrink all those 192x192 doors down to 128x128, since it reduces their memory size by half and still has the same quality in-game... 192's, 96's and 48's will just be blurry.

I like what you did otherwise, there's some really nice visuals contained in here.

Nice, Fam. I've sorta been thinking of using a grey/blue motif for when I get around to doing an NS map, I think some of these textures should go nicely.

Fam, after looking more closely at the WAD i found ALOT more textures i like. And be blessed for your overlays, can?t have enough of them

I really like a few of these. One comment I have is name your readme's something like V_wad_readme.txt, so that nothing gets overwritten by extracting it and I can extract it right into my texture credits folder.

Those textures are all ones based on original ns.wad textures.

oh, thats some very neat textures fam! nice indeed!

I'v started using them for my ns map

not a bad use of fams textures at all. use the computer overlay on the wall to the far right, maybe make it go in a bit or poke out, however it is considered rude to post map pics on someone else post

I do not mind at all. In fact, I was rather hoping people would show me just how they are using the textures. I am still pretty new to all this, so knowing what works and what doesn't work is very valuable. Any kind of feedback is great.

thanks for the wad it is very good and suits very good with natural-selection.

*note ->this is NOT a bump!*

I´d like to second the request for a version of v_techwall_logo without the logo, and maybe have the backgound be "blank" like in v_techwall4. I could use this OH so well! i wish id know how you did that "screen" effect 8)

Here we go. Youll need to insert it into a wad yourselves, id rather not have different versions of the main WAD going around.
