on the default hera on my servers only 1 of the 2 resources in the holoroom works.
i could fix the other one using ripent easily and transparently but first i was wondering if anyone could tell me - was the resource SUPPOSED to be non-functional?

This seems to be a bug in 1.04, not just on Hera. We have been playing ns_siege004 and ns_missilecommand alot on our server, and after we upgraded to 1.04, only half of the resource nozzles work.
Got me, i went gorge, and tried to build i. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> Then just gave up and went back to eating people.

the comm only lets you place resources on resource spots, and will "snap to" the correct resource location, so it seems like a bigger problem than a slightly misplaced entity

Its not difficult to find out whats wrong when u play ns_siege002 or ns_siege004 or ns_missilecommand. If u place a res tower it appears on another nozzle. Thats what u mean with "snap 2" i guess. So i strongly advice the NS-crew to change this bug because its a very big problem for funmaps. I played ns_square yesterday on a 1.03 server and we could build all the res (50) when i went playing on a 1.04 i couldnt place more then 3.
Yeah, the Hera one is broken, and it does seem to be the "snap to" bug. I tested it, and tried to build on the left resource while standing in front of both of them (as gorge, obviously). The tower appeared on the RIGHT node instead of the LEFT one. I then proceeded to try and build on the left one once more. I ended up spamming my resource node bind until FINALLY it built. Just bind a key to "impulse 90" and keep trying to build (spamming that button) until it finally takes. Just try a bunch of different distances and angles and eventually it'll work.

oooohhh. thats what happened in holoroom to me. well i never got around to building the second node, but what happened is i tried to build the left one, was facing right at it, and it built the right one instead <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
I died before I got a chance to try again on the left one, but this sounds like a positioning problem.

it doesnt matter where you are facing, just walk up the ramp in holoroom and then build it, works every time.
owned you all!! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Marines can build both nozzles too (on hera). There is a sweet spot that you can see in the image below. This is what you have to do:
- First you have to build the one in the right. //edit: you dont have to - Select the "build RT" button or use an impulse bind - Place the cursor over the middle of the right node and slowly drag it out to the right until you see it go red - Now bring it back into the green just a little bit
I'm pretty sure you have to keep it directly right of the node. Don't go off at an angle. I don't believe there are any more sweet spots for this area. This is just a way to get by until they fix the bug.
1.04 bugged it, but i found as a gorg u can build on both, to get the left one on, stand on the railing and look down at it and build res, then itlll work.. its not that hard to balance on the railing <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
someone astutely observed that the bug was reproduced when two resource nozzles are very close together, less than about 15 feet. what the game seems to do is bump the build targets of the resources away from each other. one resource will be built by aiming at the nozzle, but to build the one next to it you actually have to aim at a spot in the direction of the 2nd nozzle but 15 feet from the first nozzle. here's a crappy little diagram:
so if you AIM at the right red X (even though in the game you might be staring into a wall or off a cliff), it will actually plop the resource tower down in the original location. maybe that will help people build untiol the bug is fixed
Yeah, finally can build again in holoroom, but although it's no problem as an alien as a marine it's damn tough to explain it to your commander. Most of the time I ask him to hop out, I place it, then he get's back in. Hopefully 1.1 will fix the issue

Just on Hera, Holoroom.
This should be looked at.
its just a real pain in the **** and is pretty complicated to do
hmmm I hope that works <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->... ill have to test
