This needs to happen. Now.
Someone needs to work on getting some web space up for the default models for NS. Once I reinstall, due to HL taking a **** on me, I will back mine up in WinRAR format. If someone can provide the space, I'll upload the models. First off, this will make it easier in case someone forgets to backup, and second, it will prevent what happened to me from happening.
I had to reinstall NS, due to the fact that I was missing some of the default models (F me in the A-hole for not backing them up), and couldn't connect to my clan's server for a scrimmage. After the reinstall, HalfLife told me my "version was not up to date." I ran the 1110 patch, thinking it'll fix it. No, it didn't. Now, I have to reinstall ALL OF HALFLIFE. Yeah, my fault, but still.
Anyway, long story short... someone, please give some hosting space for the default models. I'll give them in .zip and .rar format.

install ns, then re-name the \half-life\ns (or equivalent) to \half-life\vanilla ns install
then, install ns again and there you go!
you have a whole backed up copy of ns ready to go incase you screw it up!
Handy tip #3: Use the search function up there, becasue the last time someone had a request like this someone linked where they'd hosted the defaults.
Souris, I did search, Nothing came up about it.

yup, did the same here. works fine for me (and I just have to rename the folders if I want to play on a mp_consistency 1-server )
I posted this in another thread...You can get all the original NS models here.
