<div class="IPBDescription">Where can I find a good cheap server?</div> Hi I'm looking to rent a server for NS and I need a good place for fairly cheap. I see places trying to rent 14 player servers for $150++ a month! WTF! Can someone maybe hook me up with a few links to check out? I doubt you can find a place =/
NS is a -VERY- resource heavy mod and uses so much CPU and other crap that the hosts can't fill their servers to the amount that they can usually because of that fact. So, they HAVE to charge that much. If they're not then I'm sure they've got quite crummy service =/

www.warservers.com also give full support, they also do most other types of game server as well. Damn cheap, and the servers are excellent.

Hi,

depending on where you are located:
in germany you can get a dedicated webserver for around 40 EUR (+/- 40$) with full root access
but no service...

install the NS server and start hunting...

www.serveitup.com , not bad servers , prices are good. But be forwarned , the customer service is not that great.

Well thanks. I knew that Natural Selection servers took a crapload of CPU speed, but still.... 12 players for $150?! That seems like a total rip-off. Who has that kind of money! And thanks everyone for you help, I appriciate it ^_^

We currently have one rented NS server, "|Black||Ops| ns server" at nsblackops.nuclearfallout.net:27015, but we hosted another before, and we've gotten positive renter feedback on both. We also have space immediately available, and we have a reputation for service.

We're west-coast, though, and I'm not sure where you are.

I have checked out your service, and I did play on that Black Ops server. I gotta banned for being "an ****" though. LoL. As of right now, I don't have over $100 to pay for a server myself. Now I'm looking for something cheap, and... ok. I know Nuclear Fallout servers are good, but the prices prove it. ;-) If I get a friend to help me pay, I'll get yours for sure <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

Or for the same price you could rent a 2.0ghz with 1GB of ram. You could do whatever you wanted to do with the box, and only what you run is what is being run on the server.

If anybody would like more info, or help setting up a box for NS or any other HL based game let me know, and I will give you the info and help for free. If you want to donate a little something that would be fine also, but I don't expect it. I would not want admin on your server, I wouldn't want credit for setting it, nothing.

Be prepared though, because a dedicated box is going to run you between $99 and $130 a month +tax.

Servers are located in Texas. Golex uses the same place as me so he should be able to tell you if they are good or not.

No, I don't work for this company, I just use them and I am happy so far.

IT IS a rip off...I have helped sell for a few companies, who have good prices, but only sell on so many before they stop expanding; next one I find, I'll make a post...

We're considering offering a 20 player NS server w/ your own TeamSpeak 2 server and web hosting for around $200 a month. I wish we could do better on the price but the mod does use some serious resources. We've got a 16 player game running right now, seems very smooth but it is on it's own box too. I just opened a new divison in my webhosting business, in the next few weeks NexGen Internet Services will be offering gaming servers, clan hosting, etc...

Cost for a 12 player NS server would be around 45 dollars a month. If you are interested send me an email at bjank@nexgenis.com. If you pay 6 months in advance I'd drop the cost to around 35 dollars a month. If you refer us to someone you may even get a month free <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

The setup free is 15 dollars, we will setup the server with whatever mods etc you'd like. If you would like shell access it will cost an additional 15 dollars a month (that way you can run whatever you would like).

Domain hosting is an additional 10 dollars a month.

In a full NS game with 12 players on ns_eclipse ping times are ~150.

All of our servers are on multihomed DS3 connections (100 mbit connections to the local network).
