Question
will the commander be able to see a non moving alien in out of view areas (the red blips)... or will he still see them assuming aliens are too dumb to know the enemy has survelience and can see them so avoiding it would just be metagaming so then you just cut out the problem by having it see non moving enemys, or am I just reading too deep into it but it's still one way or the other?

Out of sight aliens can be seen (moving or non-moving) if they are close enough to a marine. That means if they are on the other side of a thin wall, they will show up as a blip for the commander. They don't show up for the guys on the ground, only for the commander. This was done specifically to give the commander more knowledge of the environment, with the hope that it would cause more troops to obey orders (however unpleasant they might be).

That's rather cool. More and more like a strategy game while remaining chaotic and action-packed.

    ahh the scenario:

Marine: What was that strange gurgling sound .. commander!? any aliens nearby ?

Commander: (Sees a whole screen full of red blips) Err no .. it's clean..carry on !

    then commander gets booted... hehehe

Well if commanders know more than the troops, teamwork goes up... commander greed goes up too... But knowing the HL community most people will want to blast the aliens and not give people the equipment to do so. But I want the commander. Hard-core RTSers all the way!!!!!

ok, just cuz a sudden urge to post this rushed over me i must.

this is going to happena and it's going to fux ns up if its not take care of, say a commander is doing a really good job and decides to make a funny move like above, but then 3 lamers decide, ahh thats ###, and they vote kick him off, well, then he gets kicked cuz of the people in the game are just dumb and dont appriaciate there commander. So then the lamer gets in. Either you make it so that there is a majority vote, or that it counts WHO voted, not the who voted out of how many, cuz if some kid dislikes the commander, its ging to be like, i hate him, uh, vote him ou!!!!! so freakin lame, we need to prevent that somehow.

    I heard prayer helps...
But I dunno, from what I garner(which aint much), it doesn't look like personal score is a factor in all this, so the majority would probably join in for a teamplay experience. Then again, I'm always optimistic.

(and on a side note, if anyone can give me a link/info on how scoring[if any] works then it'll be appreciatedx)

I can't see how you could rank the votes based on who gave them.

I think the majority will use common sense when voting. And it's the majority that decides.

Well in the thread above Flayra says the main NS audience will be from CS

Well, if three lamers can vote a commander off, then they're obviously organized and working together, and there ain't much you can do about a -group- of lamers except have good admins. But if there are three others on the team who disagree, then the commander won't be voted off. NS isn't going to have the same kind of voting style that CS has... where EVERYONE on the server has to vote or things don't happen... basically the only votes taken into account are the ones that are actually cast. People who don't vote don't figure into things.

But again. In the case of group lameage, admins are the only answer.
