<div class="IPBDescription">tied to fps?</div> I just had a thought, is the adrenaline regeneration rate tied to fps in the same way a marines jetpack is? I think this needs some looking into because it could give some aliens an unfair advantage (fades spamming tons of acid rockets).

I don't actually know myself, but I'd venture a guess that it is. At the moment, I believe EVERYTHING is tied into framerate, from building to jetpacks to gunfire.
It'll be fixed if it can be, I'm sure.
I'll look into it with the use of sparkys!
I mean, that'd give you a constant that you'd be able to go off of...

30 fps way over 8, I got sent back to ready room before I even got halfway

I get really sorry fps, so if you extrapolate the fps settings to 30 vs 80-100, there would be a huge difference.
It's no wonder that the Jetpack is so hard for me to use. I can barely get off the ground! I can hover for a little while in a straight line, but that's it. Also, I was wondering why in the heck I couldn't blink up to areas that other players could. Now, I know.
What I REALLY don't understand is why it effects this mod and not other mods also?... Also, I don't have any vid probs with other mods. I get a pretty stable 40 - 60 FPS in ANY other HL mod. When the s**t hits the fan in NS, I get UNDER 10 fps. Not complaining, I know I could just go buy another vid card, but I would like to know why NS is the only game I get poor FPS in. Surely it wasn't planned this way, but thats how it turned out.
Guess you gotta have a $200+ video card to take full advantage of this game. Time to put my mortgage payment aside and save for this I guess. Guys it is really sad to watch 8 as a marine.... no wonder he always wants to go aliens!
We raced to build a turret and I built my turret like normal then turned around and that fool was only half done! I laughed so hard.
And then me and him were gonna jetpack over this crap in foreboding antechamber on the way to powersilo, and i think when we both came outta that hole over the bridge with the nozzle on it, he fell into the void it was funny.
GForce 2 Mx or equivalent runs NS fine at 60 FPS++
Any way if you are using Windows2k, the FPS is capped at 60 on default.

put a fade who can only use acid rocket and a marine with HA and HMG in a room together, 5/5 times with good players the HA/HMG marine will win.. its NOT overpowered >_< try playing from the other side of the fence..
No use, HL is capped at 100 fps. Ok, heres an idea, can't the fps cap be set lower, such as at 60. This would lower the difference between those with fast comps and slow comps. It would not have any adverse effects either, since you can't (ok I know I can't at least) tell the difference between 60 fps and 100 fps.
Its a question of people with faster computers having a distinct advantage over people with slower ones.

As someone mentioned, a Geforce2MX will run NS at 60+, even with a CPU under a GHz.
You can get a GF2MX for less than a hundred USD now.
I know lets arbitrarily put in some other stuff for a laugh, if you spend 10 usd on flayra dolls you get extra damag to your bullets.. Sounds fair afterall its ONLY 10 usd.
Hey we could make the effects cumalative and then by making myself a Flayra shrine populated by thousands of little Flayra dolls (I'm thinkin of doing this even if they don't release Flay dolls tbh) I could be teh ub0rz l33t!

Alternativly you should S.T.F.U and stop assuming that all the poor sods out there who've got a s3 virge and a 166mhz comp haven't upgraded it soley because they're lazy and *shock* might accually be broke. 1 thing that is quicker is when i die FFS.
HMMM this is bs.
Means i am more vulnerable when building because i have to build for a extra 3-5 seconds. The bigger the thing to build the longer it takes. Why shoulld Fps matter how quick u build. Big disadvantage that spoiles gameplay for many......NOt happy jan
What does it really matter? I play at 1024x768, but I could easily do so at 800x600 or 640x480.

Hey, it's not fair that people with money have faster cars than my ancient beat down Civic, so they should make a law that caps all engines at 65 MPH. It's also not fair that their cars look nicer than mine because I can't afford a new paint job, so all cars should be painted in dull grey and keyed so they rust up a bit before they're allowed to circulate on the streets.

Don't be stupid. This behaviour is not intended at all and gives an unfair advantage to players with higher FPS *IN ADDITION* to the inherent (fair) advantage of having less CPU stuttering.
Aren't there speedlimits? lol...
If these changes are made solely for the sake of "fairness" (instead of the infinitely more important BALANCE), we could go pretty far into the crap hole. What's next? Giving everyone who has broadband a crappy ping so it's fair for 56Kers who can't afford cable?
Some people don't realize that they are *privileged* to still be able to run a modern multiplayer game on a machine as ancient as a 166 MHz with a S3 card and a dialup connection. In fact, it's as if they expect to be able to play any game as well as someone who made a $2000 investment in his computer with a T1.
You could get something that could run HL & its mods at 100 fps for a minimal investment ($400?). If you can't afford that, I suggest one of the following: Either you shut up and endure it, or you find yourself a hobby you can afford.

Interesting notes: At 20fps with the jetpack, you jump up pretty high, then land on the floor and don't go up again.
at 60fps, you smack into the roof, but when you run out of fuel, you slowly settle back down to the floor
at 100fps, when you run out of fuel, you continue to hover
I suspect that the reason for the longer amount of heal sprays at 20fps is because firing rate is in fact affected by fps. What I imagine is happening is that you can't fire again until the firing animation is finished. For the marine weapons, this animation is insanely short, and doesn't much matter. I checked the heal spray four times with the fatty.
I used a digital stopwatch to time, so minor variations are probably due to me hiting the button for stop or start at the right time.
