How many times have you joined a server and had to download a plethora of stupid Simpsons, UT, or movie samples? Have you actually ever observed these sound samples <b>being used</b> ingame? For me, they do absolutely nothing except make me frustrated when I join a server. Stop putting this crap on your server, for chrissakes.
PS: I tried cl_allowdownload 0 and it didn't do anything.

If i ever add a sound, it will be a usefull one, such as a "Need weld" sound or something.

ok with that said, my server has UT sound pack for mutli-kill etc. Buts its not spammy...if you DL once you dont' have to DL it again...i don't see what the problem is really. Anyway, how about you take you kiddy drawings to another server k?
because frankly, if you have that kind of additute you wouldn't last long on my server. EVeryone would have "voted you off the island"
I think its time for your pills IMO, can't you just join a different server? (I think the answer is yes)
Simpsons sounds and etc are so stupid...but the UT sounds encourage players to stay alive longer trying to get to godlike (i think its 30 kills w/o dying on my server...i don't remember). DL it once already....then all the other servers with it you don't have to DL it again.

Problem solved -- damn I'm good.
...either that you you can wait the 30 seconds it takes to download my 4 sound files (and never have to be downloaded again, mind you) before you can play.
Why do people think posting this in the forums will make admins stop doing whatever the complaint of the day is? Why do people think that their opinion matters on how I run my server?

so stop crying, there are many servers out there with no soundpack.. as Vadakill said just disconnect.
1. It drives down traffic.
2. It takes longer to connect.
3. It consumes bandwidth.
4. I hate custom sounds.
The built in easter eggs are good enough for me if I want humor in my game.
No it doesn't. 4 UT sounds take 10-30 seconds <b>each</b> to download. It is freakin annoying. By the way, stop the "Download once and you never have to download again" crap. It's not like I join the same server every time, and there are hundreds of servers. Personally, I've never heard the custom sound used... EVER... either make your servers broadcast them more often, so they're worth the download, or don't at all.

I made them as small as I possibly could. They're about 125Kb total.
Around 50 seconds download time for a player with a rate of 2500.
Around 40 seconds download time for a player with a rate of 3000.
Around 30 seconds download time for a player with a rate of 4000.
It's pretty insignificant after that...plus it's a one-time thing. Windelkron, YOU don't like to wait 1 minute MAX for it to download, it's your problem.. my server is full almost 24/7(except at night hours that ppl are asleep) so why should i remove it?
even if i play it once in a week, i still want it..
there are a lot of servers without sound packs, just disconnect because you are too lazy to wait 1 minute max(probably less) and join some other server.
sigh, as Arkaine said... we provide you a free server and you yell at us ;/
you could pre-download the sound packs and install them manually.
some are in the siggies, some are in google : UT sounds
or something like that

Windelkron, from your posts all I gather is that you are EXTREMELY IMPATIENT...
OR...
you have one REALLY CRAPPY connection and your computer takes forever to download...
Either way, join another server like others suggest, or just sit tight, and just wait the few seconds...

since there are "hundreds of servers" just leave that server and go to another one that won't cause you to complain. problem solved.
