What Is Your Favorite Alien?

<div class="IPBDescription">Write about your favorite alien here :P</div> I would have to say the <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'> . It may be belligerent & obese, but too damn essential in the alien race. In another words, it is the back-bone of the alien race. Once, I saved the entire team as a gorge by building a new hive after the humans destroyed the first hive (in case you're wondering, we won too). Therefore, the <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'> is my favorite alien. So from now on, when I'm a marine and I stumble upon a gorge, I would most likely spare its life.

Their first two abilities are great for melee/scouting, Leap basically transforms them into a ranged attacker (with themselves as the missile), and Xenocide just plain rules.

Besides, most marines expect Fades and Lerks once two hives are up. Throwing a Leap-crazed Skulk into the mix only adds to the confusion during an attack. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

Depends on my mood (even more on how many hives, resources, and what types of chambers are available) but so far my faves to play are a skulk or lerk.

id say it was skulk for me... but now im having so much trouble with him, it looks like im hitting marines dead on with multiple bites but nothing connects.

Anyways, yeah, i love the Skulk, awesome little agile guy offset by sniper pistols >_>

As for a more evolved alien, i would say the Lerk => so fast on the wing, and the umbra just rules, hehe

Nah, I'm a fade lover. And not any kind of fade, but celeriyty melee fade! Either cara or redemption works fine, but celerity makes is as fast as a regular skulk, just 10 times deadlier. As long as you keep moving turrets can't track you, and marines do barely better. While your friends stay at a safe distance shooting, waiting, shooting, waiting..., you can simply rush in the turret farm, kill a bunch of rines, hurt the phase gate, run out to heal, run back in kill the phase and some turrets, run out, etc. It's amazing, try it sometime.

I would say Fade, but fades are just to easy to use.
Skulks are a challenge to use when you are going up against HA'ers.

Tough call. I gorge when my team needs me/whenever i want too. Gorge is a great class if you ask me. Nothing like the satisfaction when saving up for a hive in a location to see one of your offense chambers get a kill. Not to mention heal spray is damn powerful and quite a degrading meathod of death provided by your local gorge. I've downed heavies with heal spray before. Not to mention that damn cute purring noise it makes when it runs.

I do also enjoy the lerk when my team has enough gorges. Whats not to love? It flies, and shoots spikes. Not to mention used in the right hands a lerk is a GREAT offense/front line defenses. You just do umbra for your fades and run in and eat the Turret Factory while umbra'd and the fade has the turret's attention.

Actually, The Onos.

With defensive chambers nearby and carapace it's just funny. I mean people can sit there and empty clips into you, I just turn, stare at them, shake my head, paralyze. Walk around them. They keep shooting. Gore.

Skulk is my favorite. I like to use regen (and celerity when possible), then find a nice dark camping spot I know will be busy. Once they get weapon upgrades, you can't rush long distances to the marines anymore (at least not with regen) and you have to play a more subtle game; dance around obstacles, get them to fire most of a clip, or maybe parasite them until they figure you're never going to actually strike, etc... then nail one. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

But as playing Skulk I have fun, even if my *connecting* bites don't register <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'> I've also been experiencing this "phenomena" very frequently, moreso since the recent update with a given ping than ever before.

Oh well what can u do. The same thing is happening to my bullets as well on the marine end. I'll just assume it's my ISP and blame them, because they suck anyway. h8 comcast.

Either Gorge or Fade for me, I ususally gorge, and I do a nice job at that too. Unless my team is being horribly stupid, I don't recall ever losing a game I gorged. I love to web...and web and web and web everywhere, espeically on the front lines. I web up everything, the fades run in...some grenades go off, the fades run for their lifes, the marines follow...and PLOP, into my webbing, seconds later, several heavies drop as the fades rush back in <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'> Also, I love when I go toe-2-toe with a lone marine and get a kill, heh...Gorge has a lot of health and armor. If you get run up on by one marine, strafe-jump and shoot back, you'd be surprised <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

I also love to Fade, mostly since I SUCK at Skulk. I don't know how a lot of people do it, but 99% of the time if I run up on a marine, no matter what, I'm dead. My favorite ability combo is Regen/Adrenaline (which I also use as a Gorge btw). I've never been a Carapace or Redemption fan. Cause you have to go ALL the way back to either a Def tower or the Hive to get any life back, unless you have a combat gorge. I'd rather just regen my own life, and keep the acid shooting. It works for me.

If you go up against a newb marine you can take them out with a gorge with no defense upgrades, but if he's a decent marine with good aim, you're screwed. Spit just doesn't do enough damage to compete with the LMG/Pistol, especially at close range where the LMG bullets don't spray away from your hitboxes.

I was playing this one custom map, called ns_onesh*tymap or something like that. It was basically a huuuuuuge square divided into 4 parts by towering walls (shaped like a cross, with ladders, ledges and passages connecting the 4 parts (which held the 3 hives and marine spawn). The thing is, on this map there was a ton of airspace. The lerk was so fun to play, flying around, dodging tracers, and glide strafing marines (I actually killed quite a few of them this way. Nothing is more satisfying). I felt like the red baron <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

hey, the title never was limited to what your favorite alien to PLAY is. As a marine there is nothing better than to hear a fatty putting up a resource tower, undefended...helpless...begging to get knifed...then the attack, you spring out of a vent, taking the fatty by surprise. It leaps up and runs away heal spraying the air, trying desperatly to reach its offense chamber wall. The marine in close pursuit you can almost hear the redneck banjo music playing in the background as you attempt to tackle the fatty and slit its belly in half. The gorge is running as fast as it can, hopping, healing, spitting at you, purring, making the funny noise it makes when it gets hit. Then. The final blow. The gorge goes down by knife, audible cursing comes from the player. The team rejoices as you tell them "I just knifed the fatty".

most of the time..w hen im properly defended or the marines are properly kept at bay... i can win.... almost every game.... ive lost simply beacuse marines get thru and i have no back up.....

i used to love the skulk.. i was pretty crazy at it.. but lately.. i blow really bad..... and seeing as to how many ppl who were pretty good at skulking are having the same problem i notice its not my own problem..... before... id always be the top skulker... but lately ive been down to 0-4 etc... and its been impossible... i charge at marines and i swear to god i mustve bitten them more than 3 times each... at least 4-5 PER marine.. and i never kill them
