ive played on both sides but i still think its unbalanced towards aliens..

itz funni tho.. cuz i usually went aliens in previous versions cuz everyone kept goin marines... but now in 1.04, i go marines cuz everyone goes aliens..
it could be diff on everyones server tho.. but in the australian servers i play.. everyone wants ta go aliens

i think the skulks are a bit bs... i get bitten by like a meter away from em.. could be lag.. but i dunno..
i've also seen one skulk rip like 3-4 marines in a row which i reckon shouldnt be happenin since skulks are supposed to be the weakest alien and u spawn as one so they cost no rps...
u could say the skulk player has madd skillz but still... thats like cs player wit knife killin 3-4 dudes in a row.. not right..

by the way i haf played as skulk and pulled dat 3-4 bs killing spree so i mean if i can do it.. most players can too..

anyway dats wat i reckon

Most people believe aliens are stronger ... because they play in pubs and while that is the case it is completely the opposite in clan matchs. I think it's safe to say that in a pub, the marines usually don't know each other and are rarely organized. You get quite a few rambos and their really is little drive to do what the commander says. Aliens require less teamwork in said situation to take a second hive and win the game like stated in previous posts.

HOWEVER, in a scrimmage the marines are completely over powered. They are always (depending on the clan) organized and able to tech INSANELY fast. I'm sure most of the people I play with know that jetpacks are broken ... they are cheap and work very well to get the job done.

I see people talking about both situations... which makes for a lopsided argument

I think the balance is fine for now. Lets wait til we get 1.1 to see if there is an issue.

One of the major points of public NS play is (as I predicted before release, thanq very much ) that new players almost ALWAYS join marines, whereas more experienced players tend to play as aliens. The main reasons are as follows:

1) The game recommends you play marines first. >_<

2) Kharaa are more unconventional, so newbies usually steer clear.

3) People who used to play AVP would rather play as an alien again rather than play as yet another "dude with a gun". They already are more familiar with melee attacks, whereas most normal FPS players aren't too keen on hand to hand.

4) Kharaa have infinite ammo and infinite health, should there be defence chambers around. Marines have many more problems with logistics.

5) Kharaa suit the more DM inclined player. Thus once people get good at NS, they prefer aliens as it means they don't have to depend on the vagries of a semi-competent commander or lost, bewildered newbie team mates.

As the NS community matures you'll see more marine wins. On the servers I play on (which have a large number of competent regulars) you see many more marine wins than on a random public server with mostly drop in players. As time goes on, more people will find regular servers to frequent and you'll build up relationships with other players, improving both teams games, but moreso the marines who rely on teamwork.

On the server I play on, the determinig factor will be the players involved. There doesn't seem to be much of a bias to either team.
