Cruelty To Marines

(a good thing)
What's your favourite method of torturing marines?

Mine is this, on ns_caged
Build a defence chamber in their base vent, go fade with adrenaline and regeneration. Lay waste to their base. You can stay in that vent for ages, acid-rocketing them. If you take some hits move back and let yourself heal, then start again. Until they get jetpacks and/or grenades they can't touch you (and of course, they have to be able to build the arms/proto labs first, which you will be merrily shooting). Even if they weld the vent you can still get into it (from their base) as a skulk or lerk, then evolve up. (It is also a great place to hide as a lerk, and lerk-spikes are a lot less noticable than fade acid - great for taking down their base equipment.)

I definetly prefer lerks in that situation.. Because not only do you have spikes but you also have umbra.

I never liked fades in vents

But the most torturing thing you can do is web them with gorge.
If the Marine is alone and far inside your Territory you can get him pinned as long as you like, then when you have played enough with your food, start spitting on him and when he s getting real softcake like, swallow him

My favorite method? Two words: Parasite Kill

When I'm teasing a marine team, killing them using only parasite is my preference.

Tried the babbler thing on Maint,CompCore,Eclipse once and it just didn't work out for us.

The only downfall of a lerk in this situation might be that he could not have umbra (maybe 2nd hive ain't up yet) and he has far fewer life/armor points to take out before he has to retreat or die. Spikes are a really great weapon though Is it true that they're hitscan, and the model of the spike liez? I mean...do they arc downward at all, or is the crosshair exactly where they are hitting?

Sometimes it just don't work that way...you gotta have leaders and you gotta have followers. From time to time when comm'ing I'll hop out of the chair and help the boys out, but that's a rare occurance. Then again, this quote mostly pertains to pubs, not scrims & matches. Clan play is a whole 'nother world

Yeah spikes fall down with distance.
But then again, id u post right here? Or wasnt this another topic?

Another nasty way of abusing marines is to illall their buildings apart from the Ip's and jus continually slaughter em until they catch onto the tactics and all leave to readyroom.

Now I personally dont do this and proceed to kill the Ip's as it is jus wasting time and annoyig marines!

That was my understaning until recently when i actually tested it. The damage dealing is hitscan, it goes EXACTLY where you point the crosshair. The spike itself is only for effect and to allow marines to figure out where you are shooting from.

Again, even if the spike itself is hitting something (say a railing you're hiding behind, or the bottom of the vent you are in) the damage is still being dealt on the center of the crosshair.

Ignore the spikes, lerks are super-snipers.

the modles fall but the dammage is where ur aiming with crosshair , anyway back on-topic , only thing that is better than killing onos with kinfe , web a area and w8 for a lone marien when he gets webbed keep him like that! untell he kills him self

    That is completely true.
Web them, and keep webbing them so they won't get free. If you have adrenaline... boy... they'll never go near you again

Here is the ultimate way to torture the marines. It's one of those end game torments, so it's not going to last long.

What your team needs to do is the traditional, and very mean, tearing down of the entire base except for the spawn portals (at least take their comm chair(s)). But unlike when you traditionally wait for them to spawn and then kill them right off, you just leave. alll go gorge and start building chambers everywhere. After that task is accomplished, all go Onos and just start patrolling. Marines, if they bother to even stay (which they probably won't), can use their ever so limited ammo to start slowing taking out the chambers around their base. But, then they encounter the Onos. The Onos don't attack the marines, not at first. No, they only attack the marines if the marines attack them first.

A harsh political message. The marines are welcome to stay there, but only if they live in harmony with the aliens.

Hehe, i played a game yesterday when we did something similar. The entire marine base was gone except for 2 inf portals. I was onos with regen, and i just stood there chuckling at them, running around, jumping on them, etc. They just couldn't hurt me fast enough for me to get worried about dying. Eventually the rest of my team killed the portals, but i was really funny just sitting there watching them waste their ammo on me and not caring at all.

i was playing on ns_square_wtf a couple days ago and os some1 used the res hack we had all 3 hives in about 5 mins. It was 3 on 3 btw. we got into thier base as skulk, went invisible, evolved to onos and destroyed everything escept the cc, which we stood by. we told the comm he could live if he got out and built an ip, so he got out with 3 onos around him lol, built it, then another, i went gorge and got a bit of babbler pwnag in then built o towers and d chambers at the end of their res room(where they were in).We let em rebuild until they had j.packs and hmgs then rushes em again. Then the server crashed but it was sooo funny

My prefered tactic of choise is to wait till the marine base is dead then one guy goes ono and the rest go skulk. Hunt down the last marine, and run around himi till he runs out of ammo shooting the onos. Then, the ono paralises him constantly (**** paralise rules, ppl should use it more) and the skulks all kill him with parasites.

Everyone gets a good laugh on that one

    Funfunfun...

When the marine base is getting trashed, preferably with only a single IP left...

Everyone start gestating right there in the marine base.

Unless they have great weapon upgrades, they can't do enough damage to kill an egg before a teammate comes by and wipes out the lone spawning marine.

I still think that the gorg rush is the best. Spam Health Spray and the marine base crumbles! The best example was on tanith, the marines were all huddled around the armory when all of a sudden....10 gorg's come in and kill them with Health Spray! We then proceded to build OC's on top of their IP's and slowly "heal" them to death.

What's the best way to torture a losing marine team? Why... a gorge rush of course.
  • NeoGregorianNeoGregorian Join Date: 2003-02-04 Member: 13093Members, Constellation
gorge rushes are just leathal, unless you have something that almost instantly wipes them out (nade or shotty) your pretty much meatsack. gg.
