<div class="IPBDescription">wooty, I like it...</div> I recently took some shots from the marine start and a hallway just outside in my new map, ns_goliath, which takes place in the public transitways/mines/sewers on a planet owned by a company named Goliath, Inc. What do you think?
NOTE: thanks to Arch0n1us for providing me with some webspace

    Looks really good. Maybe try adding a little color, but I am really not complaining.

    The name "Goliath" seems to fit the theme of the map pretty well, it's the kind of thing that just makes you crane your neck upwards in awe of how damn big the place is. You've got some great shadows too, but I kinda agree that some color might look nice.

    I really like the architecture you have going! Nice work with the textures and lighting as well! If you follow the advice of the above fellows, and add colour, do it sparingly! This is Goliath INC, and so far you have a nice "major corporation" look going! (I'm sure the "advertisments" will do the trick for ya though in that department)

    Wow, this looks very good. What kind of advertisements will you put up?

    spooky ambience.
    make the stair-steps smaller.

    You might want to contrast those dark places with well lighted areas.

    I like those shots, especially the first two. They make me feel scared and lonely for some reason, like that space station is the LAST place I want to be. Good work <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
    Oh, and don't add too much color, it would ruin that scary feeling.

    Light texture on stair doesn't go with your style, change it, then cut the bottom (where the light is) back about30-45 degrees. For an example look at Greedo's Ns_Lost, he has done it to most his stairs which touch each other / the floor.

    Heh, I'd love to see some advertisments go up. Reminded as I am of the attempt to get the Onos on Jones Soda bottles I thought some of the following ads could be appropriate:

    McDonalds: Gorge yourself!
    Pepsi: Lerk out for it!
    Smirnov Vodka: Spike your drinks!
    Coke: Fade your thirst away
    Microsoft: Where do you want to gorge tomorrow?
    Schweppes: Just a little more bite
    AT&T: Babble away all day!
    AOL: No.1 for webbing
    Burger King: Paralyse your tastebuds!
    American Airways: We'll get you there in a blink
    The Royal Ballet: Now, we dance

    A few non-real companies <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Skulk brand Pesticide: Gets rid of annoying parasites
    Onos Power Supplys: We charge less
    MC Transportation: Hive commuting for the busy Kharaa
    TF Security: Home defense at its best
    Infestation: New from Calvin Klein
    Hive Mind Cleaning: This place is a mess
    TSA Real Estate: Let's move out
    The Toyota Onos: America's Favorite SUV

    Well, I'll probably get flamed to death for these <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> The map looks good though <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    LOL. Good one, Ryo!

    Yeh...The stars look awkward.

    Bright adversiting signs? Are you sure that lit billboards will go well with dark corridors?
    Then again, very dark maps are too much in aliens' favour.

    How about a (few) vending machine(s)?

    "Not that, you idiot! The armory's over there!"

    I'd like to see some more details at marine eye level.

    You would get better contrast lighting with a larger number of smaller lights.

    Are the doors presence activated? I ask because I can't see any switches there.

    Beware big adverts, they could eat up your texture memory. It really does need something to add colour to these grim shots.

    I think you should add more different textures, much detail and different colors as lights.

    Here's my advice which runs contrary to Chromeangel's

    More, smaller lights will decrease contrast. It tends to spread out the lighting and make it less harsh. One or two spots, plus some faint texture lights for details (computer screens, light rings around doorways, whatever) is best.

    As for advertisements, my suggestion is to chop up a 256x256 into sections for more than one advertisement, sort've like a model skin. Then just align and stretch to match the sign dimensions. Also make four 64x64 textures which are just white noise, and have them loop as an animating series. This way you can throw in broken advertisements here and there to fill in the gaps.

    As I recall Yamazaki's Penumbra wasn't exactly king of contrasting lighting <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
