practice
Hi,I play CS,but it can get boring,I like NS,but I was wondering if there is a tutorial,to practice playing,it's hard to learn when you are actually in a game and your the only one who is new,I went into empty rooms to practice, but you can't do much in there until a game starts;if no one helps you ,then you are stuck.

and the last tip is just ask ask ask play play play , and look at the tooltips that apear in the game wenn u point at something..
if you want you can start up a game of you're own, go to the console, type:
sv_cheats 1
then hit enter. You can now start a game without anyone else in it. This will let you learn the comm chair without ticking anyone off . Oh and stuff builds really fast too.

Hi.
I've downloaded the bots, started a lan game and tried to practice.
For me it runs very, very choppy when I try this. And I don't have
a slow computer. It's very annoying.
Has anyone experienced this?
When I play online it runs pretty quick.
Lag is a bit of an issue but that's because of my connect speed.
When it will come out we have no idea, but there will be one Merkaba (sp??) is or was making one but the team didn't want it delaying the release!
If you join marines, try to follow the commander's orders; if you don't have any orders, either hang around the base and defend it, or follow the other marines to whatever they're attacking. Do not go commander until you've been playing for a while and think you understand the resource system.
If you join aliens, do not go gorge. This is key. The gorge has almost as much responsibility as the marine commander does, and if the gorge isn't doing things right, the entire team is most likely dead. Just stay a skulk for a while, and use your hivesight to help your team - run at the red and yellow marks and bite the marines when you see them. If your team does well and you get enough resources, try going fade. Don't go gorge until you've been playing for a while and think you understand the resource/upgrade system.
Of course, it's no substitute for reading the manual.

The bots are the problem which cause the lag. They check for waypoints every so often. Each time they do it creates some lag on your computer becuase they are doing so. Thats the only reason I can think of.
sv_cheats 1
now, type in
givepoints
a few times to give yourself resources. build, experiment with the items and the tech tree, and learn the basics until your heart's content. peruse the manual a bit. But you can only learn this game by playing it
have fun
spawnhive if you are an alien to create a hive
killall kills everyone (including you) with your equiped weapon
and b/c I have some time I shall now wright a mini tut
MARINES (start here if you can)
1) the CC(comand chair) is best left to the more experianced, once you know the basics feel free to take the chari when no one else will (serves em right)
2) for the most part your job is to listen to the comm, if he is decent he will give you orders, way points, and equip. Please listen to him, generaly give em the benifit of the doubt, if he has done very poorly and continues to do so, ok boot him (other players will probably do this any way)
3) Way points, they are sorta obovious what they are, your Comm will probably not send you off alone, thus you can simply folow others that look like they are going in the right direction (good ways to learn maps).
4) Equip, don't ask for better equip unless you have a very good idea of what you want to do, and then tell the comm. IE don't request HMG/HA, never ask more then once in any decent amunt of time (if you simply fight better with a shottie, check your teams rez and see if it would be fesable then ask).
5) Read the manul for the tech tree, b/c no one will explain that too you b/c it already was done.
6) The Menu (default to RMB) use this to comunicate, straight down is enemys here, use this to ask for HP/ammo, don't ask any other way b/c the Comm can find you when you use the menu.
7) yah, with those you should be able to pick up the rest
slightly harder to learn, but I tihnk much more fun (and the team that fewer people always try to join)
1) what the evolutions are realy good for and som tips:
a) Skulks, stealth is your friend, so is speed. Don't try to charge a marine, you should die if you do. Instead either use wall climing to get around/above em or set up ambushes.
b) Gorge, again, leave this for people who know more about the game in general, the rez flow works that for aproximatly every 3 or 4 aliens you can have 1 gorge, thus having 2 gorges at 6 ppl is OK
c) Lerk, one of the best at clearing an unmaned base, remember turrets can only look up and down 30* so fi you can get above their LOS you can spike em to death. Latter on umbra can save your life and make fades work so much more eficient (if you are in umbra 5 out of 6 bullets that should hit you WILL NOT)
d) Fade, yes, acid rkt is decent at long range, HMGs, LMGs, Pistols, Sguns, and GLs are better. The best thing about fades is that they have tremendous HP/AR, do great H2H dmg and can close the distance instantly. (I will explain blink latter)
e) onos, meh, I have not seen one come out recently where it effected the game, so I don't feel like explaining.
2) game Start, folow all the other skulks and rush their base, just try to kill as many as you can YOU ARE EXPENDABLE!! if you are dead, the gorge get more rez ;D
3) now you basicaly want to pin marines in, parasite em when you see them, kill em when you can, and basicaly keep em from expanding if you can.
4) Fade Blink:
ok here is the way it works. Blink is not Teleportation, it is an instantaneous sling shot ;D. What I am saying is that when ever part of your body would touch something solid, that is where you STOP. a nice way of getting blink to work is to jumpduck and then aim at your area.
You will eventualy get your own feel of the game.
Oh and RTFM ;d if you don't read the manul you iwll miss many many things that I specificaly did not put in (tech tree, what chambers do etc)
