Just thought you guys would be interested to know that in 14 hours (not that I'm counting) I'll be back mapping for the mod again... my mobo has had a seizure and a possible stroke - I can't leave upgrading any longer... after mid-day tomorrow (aussie time) I'll be sporting this system:

AthlonXP 1700+
Soltek SL-75DRV5 KT333
512 mb PC2700 DDR Ram
ASUS Geforce3 64mb
SoundBlaster Audigy

(please note that I'm not gloating, I'm just excited at having a shot at mapping again <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->)

sounds nice, but not as nice as mine.  also, after many years of building computers, i tell you, AMD is better than Intel in every imaginable way.  anyway, glad to have you back.  perhaps i should get off my lazy but and start mapping again too.

    geforce1 riva? custom made?

serves you right for paying twice as much than AMD... <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Has anyone here seen the little movie clip where they see what happens when you remove the cooling from the processors of Intels and AMDs while running Q3?
AMDs go up to 600degrees Celsius (and burns ofcourse),
and the Intels stay on about 30-60degrees not bursting into flames.  <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
Ofcourse, why would anyone remove the cooling from their processor?  <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

Anyways, my cousin has a P4 1,7 Ghz and an AMD 1,4 Ghz both with about 256Mb RAM... guess which one's better!
You sometimes get low fps in HL on the AMD!! HEHEHE!! VICTORY IS MINE!
    ...
No, wait! Im poor and cant even afford an AMD! DANG!

Well let's not be taking the cpu fans out then.

What I like about AMD's is the stuff they do to the processor that has absolutely nothing to do with mega/giga/hertz. I'm not even going to get into this though.

I see this is one of ``those'' threads where people spontaneously type out their PC specs.
