<div class="IPBDescription">WHat to do in the situation...</div> This was prob asked before but...
One of the most common positions you can get in as marines (at least to me) is this:
ALiens got 2 hives
YOu got your base and one of their hives
You know they r going to rush the 3rd hive
you got no much to defend with
no even gl or ha or hmg
and once they get the third its onos time!
Any suggestions on what to do?

Dont let them get the third hive. How?
U need Jetpacks + HMG and some HA with HMG/Gl.
The best way to stop them coming 4 u is to keep them occupied while commander can upgrade. I know with JP i can take down a hive by myself sometimes, works good if theres 3 of u.
The only way to counter aliens coming fot the third hive is if u r fully teched up and have res from 2-4 res nodes.
If the aliens control all the res, then you have light marines versus fades. You are dead.
I myself have `commandered' a game in which we came back from being attacked by onos to win the game.
First step, pray you have a good commander <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Your main objective should be to take out one of the hives ASAP, while they don't have many fades... a good way to do this is to get the entire team to run for one hive. Most of the time the first hive the aliens took will be relatively undefended as the gorg has just spent his resource points on the new hive and the rest of the team is using them to evolve. Once you have everyone there, kill the hive! It is suprising how fast the hive will die when being attacked by 5+ marines. While all this is going on, your commander should be upgrading like hell and in the worst case scenario, maybe relocating the marine spawn to a safer area.
If this doesn't work, getting some marines into a good hiding spot for siege while the others distract the aliens is another good way to take down the hive.
Once this is done, the most important thing is defending the 3rd hive and capturing res points. Get your team to concentrate on killing the remaining fades while one or two marines go hunting for res points.
From here, a couple of marines with welders are very helpful in maintaining base(s) from skulk rushes. A couple of upgrades later (weapons levels, maybe heavy armour if you have the res) and it's time to spread out and assault the alien's last point of defense <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Most commanders don't really seem to care about acquiring and securing new resource towers. On ns_bast for instance, you have 9 resource vents. If the marines only manage to hold 3 of them, the aliens are sure to get the remaining 6 and win by superior strength.
If you have sufficient resource towers, give your marines better equipment! Turrets are nice to slow down aliens, but they are too dumb and weak to stop them. An experienced player with a shotgun or hmg is definitively more effective. Most rookie commanders seem to have a problem handing out these things, because they must believe that their "incapable" soldiers are just wasting them around the next corner. That's nonsense - a regular LMG marine is on the level of a skulk and will lose most of the time in a battle against a fade unless you give him some tools that even out the odds (ha and hmg makes marines even stronger than a 2-hive-fade in my personal observations). So instead in saving it all up for turrets, spend it on your soldiers sometime and try to squeeze in a few upgrades whenever possible. But mind those resource towers!
1. stop moving
2. put gun down
3. bend over
4. put head in between knees
5. kiss your a** goodbye

And no. Giving up if you are cornered is the worst possible thing you could do. Even if the situation you are commanding seems hopeless, keep fighting. I've seen some amazing victories coming from it.
Similarly, if a fade starts attacking, and you have an LMG, do NOT just hide and/or try and snipe the fade. Rush it, LMG blazing. If you die, respawn and do it again. A plain LMG marine costs nothing, the fade you are attacking costs the aliens 54 if you kill it. a level 3 cara fade can take some 70ish LMG bullets. with level 3 weapons, this drops to about 59. Two LMG marines rushing a fade in unison will almost allways kill it.
the moral: NEVER GIVE UP and NEVER BACK DOWN.
its best if you can surprise them, stepping out close behind and emptying a full Lmg clip into it will kill or nearly kill it, follow up with your pistol <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Bart
1) combined rush EVERY ONE PILE IN!!!
2) charge the silly fades (remember you are worth 0 rp, fade = ~50)
and NEXT game, make sure you also get some rez controll, not jsut one hive <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
