<div class="IPBDescription">another comm guidance</div> Well there has been alot of post on this matter. I myself am going through the games when I as a comm think we marines will win but instead get raped in the end.

I don't want to bore u all wif all teh game details from start but I will say that it was NS_nancy. Alines had us pinned good. We were able to hold 4 res towers and had 15 players each team. We had unamed hive but couldnt even move into mess hall or port cos the alines just kept pinning us down. One group after another just got massacred by them.

But I was teching up while this all happened. By the time fades came, I had upgraded everything to the max and had enuf res to give at least half teh team HA, welders n HMG. I tot should be no problem now to push back to get a hive. I kept on giving HA and welders and told them to push into subspace.

What happend? We were slowly losing ground and in the end lost. Now tell me, was it my fault for poor planning? or is just my marines skillz? I just dont want to be blamed for a lost when I have given my marines the best upgrades n equipment to combat 2nd units. I mean I always thought that even if I only had one hive (and hold enuf res towers), if i tech up max i should be able to push teh fades back

It may just be that your enemy were either slightly better or slightly luckier.. It may not have been bad comming or marine play. Sometimes everyone must lose a game just to make winning feel good again..

The more players you have on your team, the harder it is to pull off a win as the marines. Why do you think clan matches are only 6v6 rather than 8v8 or 10v10? It just gets tougher to organize and coordinate with more players. I usually stick to 12-16 player servers.

That's just my general input - as to your specific game. You didn't give many details, so here's what I got:

You said you held on to 4 nodes, so the aliens must've been focusing primarily on containing you in your main base rather than deny you resources. They had two hives, and a lot of Fades is tough to deal with. With the resources you had, it would've been a good idea to drop a GL or two and spam the entrance to your base.

NS_nancy has a massive vent system, so you shoulda equipped a guy or two with HMG/JP and sent them out to the hives. If the aliens were pinning you down, then the hives should be reasonably empty.

My last idea deals with your timing. You need to expand quickly; if you failed to lockdown a hive or at least keep pressure on their first one during the early game, you're probably going to lose. You've gotta keep them busy so they can't mass up and pin you down (which it sounds like they did).

The only for the tech rush to work is if you keep the pressure on them with the majority of your team while the remaining troops build/secure nodes. Get JP/HMGs before in the early game before the 2nd hive goes up, and it's GG. If you had locked down a hive, you can't delay your advancements to tech. Again, the constant pressure is key - start your research WHILE your troops constantly move out.
