If this is to complicated for you, try the following simple equasion
Child abusers = cool/funny if Mic spammers = cool/funny
I HATE mic spammers. They are nearly as bad as hackers. Oh god, you DO NOT want to be a hacker and have me get my hands on you.

A slightly more polite response:
1) Voicecomm is there to improve gameplay by making communication faster and easier.
2) While some people might use their voicecomm to appropriately insert witty comments - original "taunts," as it were - there are other people who would use the same technology to be "cool" by playing music, midis, objectionable wavs, extremely loud sounds, etc. - thus creating a very unpleasant experience for other players.
3) If you like hearing starcraft wavs, you can replace the marine's default comms with your own wavs; look around your NS folder and you'll stumble across them.
1: voicecom is mutable, even in NS. There's a post somewhere (general forum, I think) which tells you how to do it.
2: playing wavs over voicecom is not a feature native to HL. It's accomplished with a specific program. I'll leave it at that.
3: I've actually only ever heard it used once. Some guy played this bit of music from an old Mario game. It was hillarious <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Skorpion, maybe you were in the same server as me, as there was a guy doing this. I didn't mind because he only did it in the ready room, but as soon as he got in game he stopped.
We ended up talking about our old favorite snes games, so you see, some people who have this program aren't complete ***holes. On the other hand there is whats his face and peepee-boy, who constantly torment people in the game with rousing renditions of popeye.
Now that we know how to mute people, let's get on to the fun part. With <a href='http://as-if-I-am-going-to-let-you-all-spam-my-voice-channels.com' target='_blank'><b>THIS</b></a> proggy, you can play selected WAV.s over your mic, even w/o a mic, rather than doing MIDIs or whatnot.

He means stumble across the standard marine noises. Rip the .wav files out of starcraft and replace them! If you don't have starcraft, I don't care. If you do have starcraft, i don't care. I just plain don't care. PS: I don't have starcraft either, is it any good?

I heard another Starcraft saying last night... Okay I was comm on Eclipse and all of a sudden about 10 skulks rush us. We fought em off and one of my marines played the Observer thing 'Thats one small step for man...one giant *krsssssk* STOP POKING ME!'
I have 7 or 8 quotes mostly from Hudson. I don't spam them, but a lot of people seem to like it. I find it amusing. I also have the theme from Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, which is about 20 seconds. I play it when we've essentially lost but have about a minute before we get back to ready room. Heh.
Just please, don't play crappy music for minutes on end. Thanks.
Is there a mod to take a voice spammers mic and stuff it up their arse? Please, I'll pay for that one...
Voice spam is evil. I still remember a guy plying hudsons "game over man" quote at the end of a game again and again... then in the ready room, then in the next game, then most of us left... after that I added bind INS edittoggleps to my config.cfg

No, I don't think so. The funny mario .wav guy plays FireArms, not NS <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

one draw back is that the rmb menu will not show up (simply hold rmb and then press your bind again)
it is hakish but it WORKS!
