Hey guys, the best way to put that computer to a stress test is now out with an updated version! I heard it's harsh, with *good* video cards, only getting scores of 2000 or so! I hope my computer fairs well! The servers are all being hammered right now, and downloading may be tough. The file is around 175 megs, have fun you 56K'ers. Here is a link to a list of downlods though:

Not on the list is <a href='http://www.filefront.com' target='_blank'>http://www.filefront.com</a> , I'm currently downloading @ 300 kb/s off it, even though their server is 97% full <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I mean you don't wanna use quake1 to benchmark today's hardware, because even a geforce 1 will hit around 200 on there (there's a bit in the quake 1 engine where once the fps goes high enough a bottleneck actually forms so you don't really see like 600fps in it like you'd expect). Its just not an accurate test. So likewise, this is meant to be an accurate test for a few years to come.
Oh and I can't download it from anywhere. :X pisses me off.

Finally found a working mirror on <a href='http://www.gamershell.com/download_1296.shtml' target='_blank'>Gamer's Hell</a>.

On my mate's 2400+ AMD Xp, 512 DDRRAM, Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9700 pro and Sound Blaster Audigy he got <b>nine hundred and fourty five</b>. That's with FSAA on 8x and Anistropic filtering on max.
That's probably the best gaming system you could hope for at the moment.

Hell that sacred me!! What's the next gen hardware gonna be like???
.. Is it bad when your computer REFUSES to let it download? It started to d/l then my system canceled it on its own... ITS ALIVE!
...yikes
/me hides from Psycotic killer sentient computer/
I've got a server that has a huge libary of files that I've got a reserved slot to access and that I can download from without counting towards my monthly limit.
Wewt.

Anyway, 3dmark2001SE used to give me round abouts 2430 if I recall, so judging by the marks i've seen so far for other systems i'd prolly get about 750 or so?
1.1ghz PIII

Maybe because it includes a stripped-down version of the Doom 3 engine (or at least something that looks very much like it), plus two or three others? <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
