Starting Network Freeze.

I have just installed NS for the first time, and when I'm trying to join a server (any server) I get the usual "Starting Network" message in the console, but then the game freezes! It won't join the server or anything!
I know my copy of halflife is good and working because I'm usually playing counter strike with no problems!
What could be the problem???

    Guess you're not alone !     I have this problame to, tried connecting from console, but with the same result..
