I revert to old quake TF form when I play. I will start with LMG (as if i was using the rocket launcher) then switch to pistol about halfway through, (as if I was avoiding the rocket reload by switching to the double shotty) then switch back to pistol if I need to (as if I was switching to the pump).
I used to use pistol as my primary, but of late, i have learned how to burst ifre very well, and can manage to take out at least 2 skulks with just 1 clip of LMG. So now my primary is the LMG. I only use pistol when the LMG is out of ammo, and I still need to kill things, or ill use it on Defence chambers that I know I can kill first, before the OC's. LMG Burst fire all the way Baby. (Im getting so many kills from it, I dont know whats going on, I KNOW im not that good a player, yet I can manage to hold an area fairly easily with my basic loadout, soon as the phase is up, im off to get more LMG ammo, and resecure the areas. Although, my newfound skills still dont help me when I get ambushed by 3 skulks. But the way I see it is, if 3 skulks are ambushing a coridoor, then they arent eating Res nodes.
i tend to use pistol when the alien/s im about to shoot is distracted ,such as in my last match when a skulk was attacking a rescource tower and easily fragged it. The rest of the times when im asulting its machine gun/shotgun for me
I usually use the pistol as my primary, I think it should have 12 shot clip though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I switch depending on situation. It's pretty "feel" automatic for me; but I do notice when I switch.
In close quarter ambush it is harder to be accurate for example, and in such the need for accuracy increases. Although I usually have no problem close quarters skulk dropping I still switch to lmg cuz of its spread.
My science and industry experiance causes me to sometimes carry the knife, then go lmg, then pistol. (For those who don't know, many science and industry players go from primary, often tau, to shotgun, to crossbow, right down the line, one shot each, but the breifcase is held out when not charging. Some people even use scripts to duplicate this.)
It's possible to edit ones fov in NS, there is no protection against it, which causes some problems as the pistol is perfectly accurate, turning it into a semi auto sniper rifle... even without fov modification it's fairly simple with it. One of the reasons skulks are fairly weak on offense.
