    the retractable bridge leading to the hive, int the backround there is a fuse box which must have its wiring welded for the bridge to work

    The readyroom's nice and simple.  Nothing too spectacular, but its not like people are going to be spending too much time in there.

    I have to say that I really like the way the hive room looks there.  The way the lighting looks is just really good.  I wonder if it'd be possible to stick in some extra lumps of goo and infestation in corners, and just to kind of break up the flatness of the floor (I realize the r-speeds are pushing it in there).  I think I'd have to see the hive in there to make some final comments.

    I like the idea with the bridge, so long as that's not the only way into the hive room.

    I like the way the marine start feels.  I think that the texture of the lights on the rafters up top need to be brighter, because right now it doesn't look like they're actually emitting that yellow light (if that's even where its coming from).

    The cliffs in the last shot are too wall-like.  Also, shouldn't the hive be almost entirely infested?  Home sweet hive, or something like that.  Otherwise, looks nice!  How do people get to the spectator tower?

    Your archetecture looks really good in most places and sometimes is extremely cool and unique, but your texture use is a little choppy and could use some work.  Im no mapper but from what I see the textures dont always flow together, espeacially in the tunnel leading to the hive room and the landing pad shots.  Good work on that spectator tower, it looks awesome as well as that strange ceiling thing in the 2nd set of shots.

    IF you change the shadowing in the reactor at all I'm going to have to open a can of whoopass on you to get it set back- that lighting it tight. although, it could use with ground cover, as the aliens are at a disadvantage (from what I understand, but don't qoute me on this) in wide open spaces. since this IS a hive room there should be plenty of cover and whatnot for the bobs and fatty's, but leave some openess to it for the tinys
    And like coil pointed out, the cliffs are too flat, just put some random and not necisarrily complex brushes jutting out at various heights to break up the monotony.

    Good work. I wanna see the red room again!

    I thought of an interesting effect to use for your 'join marines' sign there - rather than have four signs hanging there pointed NSEW, why not put then on the N and S sides, and rotate them on an axis around the center of that volumetric?  Or, even cooler, do it twice, with one rotating clockwise and the other counterclockwise, one a little higher than the other...

    Just crazy ranting.

    Trane: in some of the shots the choppy textures are in places where i quickly put blocks to seal off the map

    Biomechanoid: if you look on the slanted parts of the cieling there are alcoves above the doorways, which could fit tiny if they had to

    Plaguebearer: i had that in my old ready room for my observe match sign

    Alot of flat spots on your map, The cliff walls mostly. Stick a few brushes on to give the cliff texture.

    If I remember correctly, it doesn't matter where the hive is in relation to the floor. It's just a model. it's not like anything comes out of that little spout on the end.

    I believe DB is correct, in Bast, one of the hives is pretty high up there. It doesn't have to be reached by anything but bullets.

    The Geometry is really cool, but I think you'll need a little more detail. You have some really excellent ideas in there as well. I love the idea about a retractable bridge. It should work really well

    if so, they already are on the far side, in fact behind the wall in the middle of the picture is the reactor hive, and the floor in front of the control panel has a gaping hole in it. the fun bob will have <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    the reason i asked about the hive hieght was in another topic someone said that the hive should be closeish to the ground so it doesn't look like the aliens fell far when they popped out

    No, you don't have to worry about the hive being too high up. The aliens will respawn exactly where you place the info_teamstart's. They don't fall from the hive.

    I had a hive way up on a ceiling before in one of my rooms, but took it down and put it in a little aclove just to make the marines do some footwork in the hive room... rather than just standing at the entrance and shooting away. Something you might want to keep in mind while building.

    Waitwaitwaitwait... is this the room that WAS red, and then you changed it, and made me cry?  Or was that someone else's map?

    Because I LOVE IT!!!  Sooooo atmospheric.  Don't change a thing.  Only thing that would make it better would be if the lighting pulsed, like an alarm or something.  (:
