Blink

This is how to blink
Oki many have asked how to blink... so I'll try to explain how to blink

1. first u must be pointing your mouse at er wall not the floor or ciling
2. U must aim at a wall with a plain surface... that works the best... it won't work as well on walls that have pipes or deap'ings into it... just use a plain wall...
3. To use leap u must make sure u have full "energy" NOT Health point but the Alien ammo stuff on the right of the hud/screen
4. now here the trick Keap pointing at the wall now jump-duck + fire and you sould be blinked already... keep trying it until you can master it.... its realy use full in some levels....
5. if u still can't do it make syre that u jump before duck and NOT duck and jump.. its like the jump modul in reguler Half-LIfe...... ALWAYS do the blink from standing position...

So if u already learned blink then try to tele-blink the marines... i don't know if u can but it would be funny...

you mean like the long-jump feature in late game single player half-life? that's duck-release-jump, so i think you got that wrong, it's the other way around to blink

Mobay is right, blink can be really deevastating to marines, especially in long hallways or rooms w dark sports high above marine sight.
Even without "Adrenaline" you can blink multible times in a row, for example hide on top of some generator w/ cloaking, then wait for marine, blink down, kill marine, blink up and all they see will be a blue cloud

Blinking doesn't work in tight places, like hallways that are 3 feet above the fades head.

I've never had blink work right for me. What's it even supposed to do, when it DOES work right? What's the range limit of a blink? Does it have an attack at the end like a skulk leap? What can it pass through? Any geomatry at all, or is it a clear space? How much adreniline does it take? Far more importantly, how come it works for you guys and not me??

It is a teleport. It has no range limit (I can blink at refinery from one end to the other) It is not an attack, it does no damage, it is just a teleport and you cant pass anything. Blink moves you to the point where you aim with your crosshair, but if there is anything in the line of sight, where one part of the fade hits a wall/ceiling/floor you blink only to this point.
The point where your crosshair aims is where the fades head will appear after the blink. make sure, that the whole body fits under it! Thats the point, why crouch-jump works better, because as soon as your feet hit the floor the blink ends.
Blink does not need much energie, you can do multiple blinks and travel really fast thru the map.
You can avoid to get stuck, if you dont blink to moving elevators, doors, struktures.

    Some advanced blinking-techniques:
You can blink down to avoid fall damage.
You can blink to flying jetpackers and slash them in midair
You can blink into vents. Do a crouch-jump and aim above the vent at the wall/ceiling and strafe into the vent.

Blink is entirely a 'knack'. Once you've got it, you'll rule with it. Until then, it'll just suck. Try getting into the 'mindset' for smaller & smaller locations, and eventually you can choose where to bounce to all you like.

Copied and pasted from my reply to a similar topic on the Kharaa Strategy forum:

"The problems with blink are exactly why I don't use it that much, but it's kinda a fair balance to such a powerful technique.

Anyway, it's been said before but blink will put the fade's head where the crosshairs are. That's why you can't just point down a corridor and blink, because that would put your legs through the floor, and why people seem to have success duck-jumping and blinking. You can also aim up.

In terms of getting stuck, you will get stuck in these scenarios:
*Blinking into a lift's floor. You CANNOT use blink to get down a lift by pointing at the floor, you will get stuck. You'll also jam the lift, so you can't get out of it by someone raising it for you.

*Sloping walls. Generaly, sloping walls will get you stuck. Look for nice, flat walls.

*For floors: any time the floor has something under it. For example, the pathway the Great Viaduct hive hangs underneath. I think it's any floor which doesn't have vacuum (ie, "out of the level") on the other side of it.

*Any structure\life-form, but it depends on the circumstance. If you are standing in front of a WoL blocking a corridor and you target the wall on the other side of it, you'll blink and then get thrown back to where you started from but won't get stuck. On the other hand, say you're at Maintenence on Eclipse, trying to leave the base htrough the right hand exit up the ladder, and there's a WoL blocking the exit. If you target the overhang thingy, directly above a chamber, you'll get stuck with your body inside the chamber. The tendancy to get stuck inside objects is the reason why I rarely use it for attacking, but understanding how blink works really helps.

If you do actually get stuck, there are only two ways I know of to get out. 1: get whatever you're stuck in killed. 2: get a nice gorge to build you a movement chamber, use it and you'll end up safe at the hive. I have no idea if phase gates work, but the chances of getting stuck within useing range of a PG aren't great, and the comm's not exactly going to drop you one "

Yep, you're doing it wrong. Need to close both. What you're doing is called a "wink". Like this:
