NS servers for the converted CS admin
Lab machine erased my last post so ill keep this one a bit shorter.
We are holding a 65 person lan at Penn State at the end of Feburary, and by popular demand we will be running a NS server. My question is: Should I take note of anything special while setting up this server? I have run CS servers many times before but I want to make sure that there are no strange new things I have to set up. I mean besides the standard HLDS and server.cfg is there anything else I need to change?
the server will only be set to host around 14 people and since ill be right there rcon is not really neccessary.
Any suggestions or websites I should follow?

You might want to run it on tournament mode if the people playing are seasoned. Also I would upgrade to the latest server-side and such.
It's an AthlonXP 2600+ OC'ed to 2250MHz (~2800+), 768 MB DDR RAM, ATA RAID-0 setup, gigbabit ethernet link.
The server has the 1.04 dedicated server files, AdminMod and a few plugins : unstuck plugin (vewwy impoltant), anti-AFK, WebMod, ...
I think that's about all you need.
Oh ... yeah ...
Get get the unstuck pro metamod plugin for your LAN-server!
We are a club with a treasury of about $16 so we rely mainly on people volunteering.
Our 60 registered computers were a bit dwarfed by the hundreds of people who showed up!!!
After a few glitches were worked out with our equipment, and PSU nicely turning on the nuclear reactor to power this thing I can say it was a success! Not bad for advertising by word of mouth only.
NS turned out to be a hit. The only problem we had was a lack of experienced commanders. This was until I convinced one of the guys from the WC3 tourney to give it a try, man this guy was a natural! Still most of the people there had never heard of NS. But hopefully now that I personally went to each of their machines and had them install NS that should help spread its polularity here. Halfway through the night we also found out that the dean of IST approved our club and we are now official at PSU.
So, to prepare everyone for our next large event (not counting another 50 person lan we have planned in april) We are pushing to host a 48 hour megalan next year. We plan to have this coincide with the dance marathon for cancer (THON) so that gamers can help in their own way (last year THON raised over 3 million dollars). Here is a link to THON 2003 Of course this is all a pipedream right now. But I thought it important to note.
Now, my personal goal is to host a dedicated public NS server from PSU. Ill let you know if we can get it up.
