Please Spell Lose Correctly....
<div class="IPBDescription">:/</div> Why do so many people spell the word lose as loose? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
Lose = The opposite of win
Loose = Not tight.
Have a trawl through the forums search feature for the word loose. Funniest of all is when someone in game calls me a 'looser'. I cant help thinking to myself 'Oh the irony!' <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

<b>turret != TURRENT</b>

<b>LIES!!</b>
You're and Your --- OMG THIS PISSES ME OFF! These two words mean very different things to educated people.
Two, Too, To --- This is not hard people, and shows you have some kind of intelligence
They're, Their, There --- Once again these three words means VERY different things to educated people! USE THEM CORRECTLY!!!!!!!!!
color vs colour
In the US we're taught to spell it color, in Europe people are taught to use colour. Same with armor.
It's = It is
Ain't = isn't it = is not it (hehe, just had to do it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
I HATE it when people put a "?" at the end of some sentences that don't need them. Examples:
My CD drive won't work?
Something is wrong with my NS installer?
I also hate people who totally disregard spelling and say it's okay because "they type really fast" or "English isn't their first language." Whenever I learn a language, I might not learn all of it, but I can spell what I learned. It doesn't take that long to read over your post and find a word spelled differently two different times.
I hate multiples of !, ?, and /
I hate people who try to |337 5P34|< and can't, and try and fail at innappropraite times anyways.
I don't mind when people spell "anesthesiologist" wrong, but spelling "them" or "sentence" (or something) wrong is just bad.
I hate people who go rambling on about wierd pet peeves they have that nobody else does.
I find it mildly annoying when people do not capitalize, but I used to not do it so I can sympathize. Sort of. I changed though. No relapses. really. i never forget. capitalization is my middle name. no joke.
uh, thats all i can think of for now.
"It's" is actually incorrect english as is "color", however, are considered correct in america. Its the same as you having changed some words, like bonnet to hood and what not.
Spelling is not everyones strong point. Some people simply can't spell and this is not the same as people spelling words wrong thinking that they should be spelled that way (colour and its). I had a friend in school who had to write some kind of self assesment and ended up putting:
I think my strongest point is *speelling*
When someone says "<i>something-or-other</i> isn't fair/balanced/powerful enough" anywhere on this message board, the typical response is usually "yeah, because you <i>let</i> them get it".
GAH!! You don't <b>let</b> them get <i>anything</i>!! They got it for themselves, and the other team had <b>nothing</b> to do with it!! It's <i>inevitable</i> that the alien team will almost certainly get Lerks, Fades, Umbra, Cloaking, and/or Adrenaline. The marines <i>will</i> almost always get JP, HA, HMG, MT, and/or GL.
How does not knowing everything that's going on <i>let</i> them get something?? The statement of "you <i>let</i> them get it" is about as preposterous and stupid as "unfortunately, we didn't utterly crush you..... so here's a free upgrade!!".
For example, there was a post a while ago that was complaining about the marines' huge advantage when they have MT. Someone said "too bad, you let them get it", and that just blew my mind. It's just as well the response was "your incompetence in not being able to run past a half-dozen turrets and 4 good base-defending marines to take down the Observatory is <i>your</i> fault".
If the marines were to set up on a space station but there were no aliens on-board, who's "fault" would it be for <i>letting</i> them get all these cool toys <i>then</i>?
