<div class="IPBDescription">don't you hate getting injustly banned?</div> Well as the story goes I was just play NS on SniperLust-2 having fun playing the game. No hacks or scripts or anything other thing that could be considered cheating. Then with no warning or reason I'm banned.
No talking no flaming just banned. I check the player list and no one else is banned or off the server, so its not a clan match thing. So I wait awhile and retry, to my new amazement its a permanent ban. All so some greedy admin could play the game in my spot. Now I can never play with the other regulars and my friends on that server. I repeat no warning no cheating no grudge just ban for a spot. That’s not harsh that’s overkill.

go on another server (that's what I do)

Warn people, set a password so nobody else comes in, wait a bit, and if nobody left the server, ask kindly who wants to leave for an admin or something... then kick some non-reg (I dunno... I guess it's possible???)

Seeing how losing as an alien really blows, the admin bans the marines. Also, because losing in NS is a bigger deal then losing in any other game, the admin abuses power like crazy.
Yes, admin-abuse in NS seems extremely common.
I was just fading along, minding my own business when I acid rocketed a jetpacker on the ceiling near the Vent hive on Bast. A few seconds later, I was permed. What of bunch of sad losers.

1.) Some servers have congreet messages, which most people seem to not pay attention to. Often it will list the rules, and since it is there admins may not give a warning when you do something wrong, since they expect you to read the rules.
2.) halfd is a tool that will kick / ban people automaticaly if they violate certain rules. Often it will warn you a number f times, depending on how the server admin set it up. In the heat of battle these warnings may not be noticed, so in fact you may be warned, but didn't see them.
3.) If you are banned from a server see if that server has a homepage, forums, etc and if you really care go and post there asking politely what you did wrong, or why you were banned, and if you want back on that server ask nicely and they may un-ban you. A way not to make a nice post is something like: "I was banned from your server for <insert rule here> and I think it is a stupid rule, can I be un-baned?"
Just some tips that may or may not help you out.

While that's true, it doesn't change the fact that there's a minimum standard of behavior that all players (admins) are expected to abide by. Part of all that is being fair to your players. While it's true that nobody can <i>stop</i> an admin from doing what he wants, it still doesn't make it right.
Nevertheless, I agree that perhaps getting banned was a blessing in disguise. Any server run by admins like that isn't worth playing on, and eventually if they ban enough people they'll start wondering why their server is empty all the time. :roll:

No, just kidding. *looks around nervously* While it's often annoying to read a thread by a first time poster about how he was unjustly banned from some rock in the wall and thinks he'll find justice here, this is definitely not the case.
This is one server I will be avoiding, until I hear word that they've cleaned up their act.... which is a shame, because sometimes I hop on it for ten minutes or so while I wait for CiS to open up and my ping is in the 30s most of the time. Ah well. I'd prefer fun company and a 150 ping to dorks and a 30 ping any day.
i've gotten that protocol error too, i think somthing an enraged admin did to me...

it comes up every time i try to join a team after being in a ready room, and sticks with me to all other servers
only way i managed to fix it was complete reinstall of ns (and backed up config.cfg)
do any HL gods in here know how to go about fixing that?

Actually, I have my own story about net-tez. Just yesterday, I was playing a game, when a net-tez guy comes in. I figure, "Oh great, I feel sorry for the team he's gonna join..." and then I realize, he joined our team! Now I'm getting ready to leave, because I've already felt the pain of Pee Pee Boy, and then I see the guy's microphone icon come up. Expecting a stupid song to start playing, I get ready to mute him....and he starts talking to us about a plan. (We had only one hive, and the marines were basically teched up.) A few other guys and I agree on rushing the base, and we go for it. Although our efforts were unsuccessful and we ended up losing, it still was a good game. I played a few more games with him, and still no spamming or raging. The guy's name was kommbullar or something like that. Still, maybe not all the net-tez guys are dedicated to raging...

Did you read my post before? They pulled some stupid crap on me to. Because one of the admins got mad that the commander didn't give him what he wanted he got in the cc when the commander got out (we were winning at this time to) and recycled the entire base) After backtalking to him, telling he was a fool and a jerk he banned me. All because he figured he could do whatever he wanted because he was an admin and ruin an entire teams game.
