<div class="IPBDescription">3rd person + scoreboard ,no flaming kids</div> ok as you know, or most prolly DONT know, im working on my little program for nS, ive called it eS ( electric selection ) LOL the only reason i called it that is because i like electricity <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->. well my program so far has some say commands for marines eg: for when u need health and ammo or structure at a certain place, so u dont have to type it, and a scoreboard at the top showing your frags and deaths. i was thinking of adding a 3rd person feature, now i am one of those ( very phew ) people that like 3rd person simply because it makes the game at least 70% more fun, not because you can look behind walls ( wich is silly cause u always die trying to do it anyway ) but because you get to see all the funny animations by the models ( especially in NS ) and, well, basically i just think its way more fun, and funny. BUT there is a problem with the 3rd person scripts that people have made todey, thats why i want to make my own.
Problem 1: you can see around walls if u can be botherd doing it.
Problem 2: the cursor always gets in the way.
Solution for 1: maybe i can try restricting turning to a certain degree, but then more problems come up.
solution for 2: i will try find a way to make it so when ever your body get in the way it goes transparent.
oh and also im still having second thought about releasing this to the public for
reason 1: people complain and might think its a hack of somesort just because they dont like it ( i respect that, thats why i might keep it to my self )
reason 2: because of reason 1 someone might give my program to an admin and find a way to disable my program, then all the people that like it will get banned.
so wot your guys think ?, and dont flame cause i really dont care about the stupid kids that wanna sit there and flame, if you dont like my prog just dont use it, theres your solution.
so once again, WOT YA THINK! ? ( about the 3rd person feature ) ( ill put it in weathure you want me to or not BUT i just wanna know wot you guys think of it )

In my opinion it <i>is</i> a cheat. If you code 3rd person, please do us all a favor and keep it to yourself.
What sort of feedback are you looking for anyway?
If there was a proxy that would transmit location I would be interested. (ie: At the press of a button say "Need Med-Kit in Reactor Room" for example)
just remmember the scoreboard on it is mostly for ME only cause im a stats ( something that rimes wif MORE ) <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

A more complex command men? is great.
3rd person and own Kills/death is the worst suggestion you can make here.
Do the world a favour and dont release it
And no 3rd person, NS was never intended for 3rd person gaming.

I Second that...there is a whole post on why Third-person mode is bad...go search for it.
bind "h" "impulse 10; say_team Commander I need a health pack"
or get a headset
(ex: the intergrated IRC chat for HL & CS)
<b>PLAY NICE.</b>
I vote for you to keep it to YOURSELF.
i suggest,
remove the 3rd person ( its no good, too easy to cheat with )
remove score board.. ( who cares, just makes rambos, i HATE rambos, go play cs you stupid rambos! )
i LOVE the idea of the complex menu like " i need medpack at vaiaduct " very useful for the new comander that way he can find you easyer etc.
if you keep PERSONAL scoreboard in, it WILL ruin the experence as everyone will be ' look at my 1337 haxor score ooo leet '
3rd person, well frankly i like sneaking up as a skulk, but i dont want to be a marine and know that some skulk is facing the other way so he can see me coming around a corner... ( idealy he should use his sound and if im parasited ),
get rid of 3rd person and scoreboard. they RUIN the experience
otherwise, keep it to yourself, and delete it..
Ego
[FACT] - i am always correct
*edit* why do you think voog, REMOVED scores?? c o n f l i c t s ... jebus..*
The only benafit from 3rd person which affects gameplay is being able to see around corners. That's not enough of one for me to care.
I guess this needs to be repeated a couple times before it sinks into peoples brains. The command "status" will open up all the info about the server, including all the info about everyone playing on it, which also includes kills. You can see how well you're doing, kills wise, at any time you want, with or without the scoreboard.
I check my score anyways using the 'status' command, so it's not like I care one way or another, I'm already able to see the marine scores.
3rd person = lame...
Keep the personal scoreboard but just have Death's, so you can see if you improve at staying alive.
I like the idea of the location sayer, Action Half-Life had a very friggin sweet thing like that, where %n is the name, %l is the location and %h is your health.
lol good one <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Feel free to keep third person and marine scores to yourself....
Now that I'm reading the thread, I see this is what most people want. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
