A Blink Stragety For You Fades Out There

Also how to use blink PROPERLY!
USE BLINK!!!!

BLINK TELEPORTS YOU, so you move around faster

you can use it to your combat and others advantage.

REMEMBER:

you can either just blink normally and miss (miss meaning failing)60% of the time (dumbhead way, unles the place your're teleporting to is HUGE AND CLEAR)

crouching and blink while your crouch helps you teleport so you wont miss.

whereever you point the crosshair with blink, that's where you head will be.

SO DON't aim so close to the ground and waste energy.

jumping and blinking might help.

jumping, crouching in mid-air, and blinking while crouched in mid-air makes it 90% no failure!!!! WOOT

Using to combat advantages:

you can use this to escape fairy fast from enemies

you can use blink to do the old 'he's there, no he's there!' stragety

"he's there, no he's there!" stragety...

step 1: near a marine base, as a fade, shoot at their base

step 2: it gets a marine to come over and shoot ya down.

Step 3: when he comes, hide behind the wall

Step 4: blink to the other side of the wall

Step 5: he looks at your old spot, and sees nothing

step 6: you shoot the marine from behind with acid rocket

step 6 (alternative): you go up to the marine and claw him down from behind.

step 7: now do whatever you want.

here's a diagram of the stragety:

or people can utilize common sense and read the manual. or even just hit "3" during a game and try it a few times... really, its not hard. just curious though, does it really do one slash damage if you hit someone? ive never seen a blink kill, but im pretty sure it says so in the manual

    Here's my strategy:

Go into a big room. Face straight upward, ninty degrees. Hit blink. And keep doing so. Keep hitting blink until out of energy and ultimately gaining so much speed from falling you kill yourself. Good job, you've used blink.

if u are a "conscious" marine you would see the blue trail from the blink and would immeaditely turn to the area where it goes....

furyk - I can blink behind marines, above marines, damn well anywhere I please in the right areas. And they don't get to me fast enough to not get chopped up. =)

yes blink is good, i used to use it.

but i just can`t stand having to spend time waiting to gesetate, getting the traits. the blinking and get stuck in things.

so i only use slash, acid and bile from now on so i can be sure that i don`t have to kill myself.
man, it jus pisses me off that i coudl`nt do bugger all for the team cos i was in the floor.

Redemption helps a bit. It lets you blink into the marine base without having to worry about an escape plan, AND, if you get stuck, as long as a marine shoots you, you've got a good chance of getting out of it.

I just recently tried using blink with Carapace instead of Redem for the first time, though, and I liked it. The extra armor gave me all the time I needed to get out of the base the hard way. And it was downright demoralizing for the marines.

    (This was on ns_eclipse)

    *door opens*
Marines: AAA! FADE! (hmg and grens fired at me)
    Me: BLINK! *poof*
    Marines: Hunh? (grens miss)
    Me: Surprise! *claw claw claw*
Marines: AAAAA MY SPLEEN! (two of them die while I run around the room like a blender)
Surviving marine: DIE! *bammity bam bam bam*
Me: Okay I love you bye bye! BLINK! *poof*

And I'm gone, leaving little pieces of marine all over their base in my wake.

    ah the DEVASTATION...

man i wish i knew how to work blink well... but many fades do not yet (considering how i never really have been killed by a blink using fade yet) so i guess i am normal...

IMHO, i feel skulk owns fades, i sit with 66 res... letting my team build and build theirs

Yeah...you should probably take your own advice and read the manual...

I do declare, any strategic contribution, any viewpoint, should be welcomed. You aren't welcoming!

A fade that uses more blink is a happier fade that kills lots of rines.

Blink is the best fade weapon, but too many people under estimate it and dont use it at all. I dont think it does any damage. I remember one time i was flying around as a jetpacking marine and there was a fade chasing me who kept blinking near me to keep up, and in a small hallway he ended up blinking inside of me. that was alot of fun, floating in mid air inside of each other.

    How romantic.

Was he able to claw you to pieces from inside, or did one of you have to /kill?

blink is absolutely wonderful, especially on eclipse. Me, a lerk, and a skulk had just taken down a phase+turretfarm at Eclipse command and we had to hold down the fort until a gorge arrived to put up the hive. I killed 6 heavily equipped marines like butter. I would stay in the pit, and when a fool came around the corner to shoot at us, I'd blink over to the wall. That wall (with computers on it, in front of resnode) is good for bilnking against. I took down HMGers, LMGers, jetpackers, you name it. (Jetpackers are a little harder, but you have acid rocket for a reason ) Then they sent down a GL marine. He fires nades where you're standing? Blink away. I ended up clawing that fool out of midair.

blink=ridiculously good on ns_eclipse's marine start. As a cara/celrity fade I think I managed to kill 17 marines over 3 minutes on my own by just blinkng in, slashing, then running/blinking back out to my d chambers. I never died once.

Why can't I even blink? I'm standing there and blinking but I don't move I'm wasting energy but I don't move lol!

Plus: How do you blink through wall?

I've played on a server once in a while where typing /stuck gets you unstuck... blinking is so much better there. Anyone know which one in particular? I forget.

If you still don't know how to blink -- crouch, aim up a little above where you want to go, and make sure the wall is flat or else you have a decent chance of getting stuck.

Blink is a very very good "attack" I use it all the time as a Fade now, you can cause so much havoc with just one Fade.

Hmmm...I use the ns_eclipse marine start one myself too. Either with carapace, which means I blink out when I get low on health and blink my way back to the D chambers, or with redemption, in which case I just slap away with the claws until I redeem. Its amazing how long it take some marines to realise that you have just 'wooshed' straight past them, and they are about to cop some claws in the back. Anytime I encounter a marine in an open corridoor, I like to mix it up with some blinking, especially the initial attack.

I've got the blink onto the refinery hive in ns_bast down to a fine art too. If any jetpacker comes in, I can blink straight up on top of the hive and either swipe him directly or acid spam him, as he flies around.

I've worked out most of the dangerous areas to use blink on different maps, so I rarely get stuck. We have the /stuck plugin now on the server, anyway, so its all good.

A lot more servers are starting to incorporate this, due to the major stuck issues on both teams (commanders pinning marines down like butterflies with turrets, gorges getting too close to RNs...) I know that Donce actually has /stuck and /unstuck (which works better).

As far as blinking goes, it's my primary method of transportation when it comes to being a fade. It can get you into vents very easily (especially on Hera, the one vent from Holo that leads to the marine start), it can get you out of a sticky situation with three marines, and it's just all around demoralizing to be unable to shoot your enemy.

To the fellow who posted the 'blue trail' comment, actually, that 'blue trail' only exists at the point you blink from and the point you blink to. It's not like the jetpack which lets out a nice continuous stream of blueness.

Blinking -through- walls is an iffy endeavour. There seems to be no sure method for doing it, and the few times I've done it seems to have been pure luck. As far as I can tell, you need to be roughly 10 - 20 meters away from the wall you want to blink through, facing it perpendicular to the surface you're going to go through, and the wall cannot be much thicker than the blastdoors on Hera. I shall not forget the time I blinked out of the marine base after they attempted to seal me inside on Hera, however. IMO, Fade combat is one of the most exciting parts of NS, especially when done right.

Oh, and my fade combo? Cara/Adren/Scent of Fear or Enhanced Hivesight (SoF because it acts like parasite for wounded marines and hivesight because it lets you see those ridiculously tiny grenades.)

OH joy, when you blink and a marine appears in front of me:

    "marine # 1 : "HAHAAH DIE YOU ALIENS!!! " (fires 3 grenades)

"marine # 2: " Yup gotta love fire and dead aliens!" (fires 50 hmg bullets)

alien peeps: "AHHHHH WERE DYING!!!! *BAM BZOOM BBBBZZZZ BROSH!!*

fade (me): " DIEYOU DASTARDLY *BEEP* *poof*

marine #1 : huh? where is he?

fade (me): "DIE SUCKER!!" *poof* (appears in front of marine # 2)

    marine # 2 : "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

fade (me) *claw claw claw *

    marine # 2 dies....

marine # 1 : HOLY SH** DIE YOU!!"

fade (me) *poof* (reappears beside marine #1)

Fade: " why hello there!" *CLAW CLAW CLAW

Blink is also great way to move faster in the map. Instead of running around, just blink. Blink is great in elevators, where instead of waiting for the damw elevator to rise, you just blink to the top of it. Also if you are using carapace instead or regen, you can blink into action, do your damage, blink out of it, and blink until you reach a dc to heal yourself.

Something great is to go to the marines base and blink from one side of the base to the other. That way you can kill marines that were hiding behind doors/wall/buildings from behind.

I always jump and crouch while using blink. It works all the times, but you have to known how to do it.

You can blink through many entities... Doors, elevators, things of that nature (I think that's one reason people often get stuck. They blink halfway through the entity before hitting the floor wall or ceiling.)
