N00b Server

Tutorial server for n00bs
I have heard that there are some servers for n00bs but most of the time they are just that in name only.
I am thinking about starting a server with a few kind admins for n00bs to learn how to play NS on. What sort of suggestions would you have for such a server?

Some possible ideas I had:

1. several admins from multiple time zones who are noob friendly.
2. published times for different tutorials (comm tutorial, gorge tutorial) If these become popular posting them on the new players forum might not be a bad idea.

3. ranking system (lets people know where they stand and when they should try harder servers)
4. general server where people can try out new things without being flamed

I also read the website for the NS guides. They would probably make good admins for the server if any are interested.

This idea popped into my head while working at the computer lab as a consultant (helping out computer n00bs )

If anyone has any suggestions or would like to help out please let me know.

I don't look quite this deep into it but what I have been doing lately is if people need help, I set up a time, password one of my servers, turn on sv_cheats and walk them thru everything.

sv_cheats is one idea that I had. the only problem with that is that if it is on and no admin is there....

I was thinking more along the lines of giving admins the ability to execute all of the possible cheat commands without giving the server general access to it.

If you do make a newbie server I think it need sto be made into a sticky post. Preferably on the new player board.

the best way to learn (how i did it) is to join a normal good server

join marines and discover what your team is doing. dont go commchair our you will make enemies. thats all. and when you try alien team, stay skull and follow your team.

Learning to play a complicated game against other people that have no idea what to do will only improve your skill amoungst those type of players. I agree you have to learn by playing on a good / normal server. Also, with sv_cheats 1 on, that won't help people learn how to play because it will give them a false sense of how important building with no enemies around you is. EX: You get a turret factory built. Your comm drops . You hear a coming. You hurry up and get both built n approx. 3 seconds. Now, you have a decently defended area versus a non defended area. Makes a big difference in a real game.
