Question

<div class="IPBDescription">Need to know...</div> Alright, I've sketched out a rough idea for a map I may be working on for ns...

What it all boils down to is this...

How many resource nodes is "Acceptable" on a map?

Right now, I'm counting about 15 Resource points...

Now, just pick that jaw up off the floor, it's designed specifically for Marine Vs Marine, and at least 3 of these resources are designed to be siege denied, whilst a further four are designed to be heavily contested. What I'm wondering is that each marine team will have four relatively secure resources to work with. Is that too much?

Wait, we can have marine vs marine now?

It's a planned feature for the future apparently, I'm just mapping ahead of time because the pace at which I map is so glacial that HL2 and Duke Nukem Forever will be old school by the time I finish <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I think all the official maps have less than 10, so in a normal game the marines might have 3-6.

I'm doing a rough bastardization up in worldcraft now, just the basic layout and resource placements with no further entities, I may be done in a few hours, I'll post pics of my layout once it's done...

Alright, I have a top down grid view of the skeletal layout of the map thus far.

    Look down below.

Considering I started this at 4:30, and it's now 6:30, I'm going at lightning pace so far...

I've had to play with the image a bit to make it small enough to be posted up...

That image seems to be bugged, I'll see if I can get an alternative...

Sure? It's loading up for me, is anyone else having trouble with this?

If you want I can email you the image...

It's also not working for me. I expect you have it cached Cronos. Try putting up a simple HTML page with that image in it. Spaceports should let us see that (they don't allow direct image linking).

    Alright, I've updated an older section <a href='http://galileo.spaceports.com/~cronos00/Artwork.htm' target='_blank'>Clicky</a>

Just click on the 2nd image in the first column. It should be obvious anyway, please tell me if it works...

Symetrical maps or bi-symetrical maps my be a very good idea for Marine Vs Marine, I am currently delving into that option. You should think about it too, although making symetrical maps should not look EXACTLY the same in opposite areas to capture the gamer.

True, the section shown is the "Aft" section of the space ship. I'll soon finish off the skeletal layout and have the "Fore" section of the ship ready...

Then come the details and commander mode...

Disregard, the problem of the map exceeding the grid has been solved...
