<div class="IPBDescription">quickest way to kill</div> Do any of the aliens have weak points (i.e the head) to kill them faster, and is there a tactic to killing skulks cause they nearly always seem to kill me first. <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='siege.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='turret.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo-->

    atm there are no weak points
    as far as i know there is only just one hitbox either
    so there are no headshots and so on

    a tactic for killing skulks is to encounter them in long narrow tunnels where they have to run a long way straight towards u ,makes them easyer to hit

    All hitboxes are the same as far as damage is concerned. However, there are a few faults with the hitboxes...

    Skulks for example don't have a head. This doesn't matter if you shoot them from the front (because you will hit their chest) but if you shoot them from the side you're better off aiming for the back half of their body. The hitboxes are also a lot higher then they seem (as high as a crouching marine).

    Fades don't have heads either, aim for the body.

    Onos are just messed up, fortunately tthis doesn't matter since once you see them you will lose anyway.

    Lerks and Gorges seem to be the least messed up hitbox-wise.

    NS does not feature locational damage, but it does feature very screwy hitboxes. Basically, treat every alien as if they're the same shape as a marine (because, afaik, their hitboxes actually are). So that means you can fire fire just above a skulk's model and hit them, and fire at their front and miss them. This is also why you can't take cover on a ledge as a skulk, because your invisible top half is sticking up.

    Yes, everything looks great in HLMV, but in game its a bit different. I have once tryed it. Skulk was standing in front of me sideways. I aimed with pistol at his head and shooted....it didn't hit.

    I think that in general discussion forum there is screenshot for that too. I don't remember what was the topic name and that thing were posted in there few months ago...

    I can definately agree that the hit points are messed up. Most noticably are with onos. You have to aim that their chest to hit them. If you aim for their head, you have to aim towards their neck for it to register as a hit.

    I don't remember where it is, but someone got a friend and did a test on where you can and can't hit a skulk. The test showed that you can fire right through a skulk's head and you can hit the skulk above where the skulk should actually be. Basically the hit pattern was the same as a marine. There were pictures and everything.

    I just did a quick search and I can't find it. If you're really interested, it's in there somewhere but, as they're so fond of saying on the Rareware website, I can't be arsed.

    so...basically aim ahead and above/on the skulk?

    no, aim about 3-6 inches above the skulks backside. Aiming at the front half of a skulk will leave you deader than a box of very very dead things.

    Just aim for the biggest part and keep a bead on anythign that moves... thats likely to be where the hitbox is, and YES, you can hit a skulk by aiming a little above it, for now anyway (i wish they would fix that.)
