Put a func_push in, and have it trigger on when the doors open

Tombo -- as for your first problem, if you don't have any lights in the map, Zoner's tools will make the map fullbright, which is what you're describing. Just put a light into the map to fix this.

For your second problem, you need to make the brushes in question into entity brushes (usually a func_wall or a func_illusionary). Then set the render mode to solid with a render value of 255.

Ok, first, I want to clarify that *I* thought of the door-opening-into-vacuum idea. see?

Second, I'm using the func_push as well as func_conveyors on the walls, floor, and ceiling (well, they're different brushes tied to one func_conveyor) to make sure no enterprising bobs scramble away from imminent death.

And I'd like to point out that most, if not all of the questions you're asking can be answered by checking out Valve-ERC. They can also give you pointers. They have everything written out for you in tutorials and articles and such. This forum is mostly for the NS specific problems and questions, rather than general mapping ones.
